Barack Obama earned his net worth primarily from the sales of his books The Audacity of Hope and Dreams of my Father. Barack's wallet began to expand after his much praised keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention that marked his explosion onto the national conscience. As Obama's profile rose, so did sales of his 1995 book "Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance". In 2005, the Obama's income grew from around $200,000 to a combined $1.7 million! In 2006 the Obamas reported income of $916,000. Barack's second book "Audacity of Hope", released in October 2006, was a massive hit, selling millions of copies and rocketing the Obama's income to $4.2 million in 2007! Their income continued to swell in the following years thanks to Barack's 2008 successful campaign and election. To this day, Barack Obama earns $3.75 for every hardcover copy and $1.12 for every paperback he sells.
WASHINGTON — Newly released federal financial disclosure forms show that President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama held assets last year worth between $1.8 million and $6.8 million.
Required by law, the disclosure forms allow public officials to list their assets in broad ranges, such as between $1 million and $5 million. That makes it difficult to determine a precise net worth.
The forms show the Obamas owe between $500,000 and $1 million on a 30-year mortgage on their Chicago home.
The president also collected between $250,000 and $2.1 million in royalties on his three best-sellers: "Dreams From My Father," "The Audacity of Hope" and a children's book, "Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters."
The White House released the documents Wednesday. Obama signed them Tuesday.
Over all, at least 268 of the 534 current members of Congress had an average net worth of $1 million or more in 2012, which is the year covered by the reports that each lawmaker had to file in 2013.
The wealthiest member of Congress, as has previously been the case, was Representative Darrell Issa, Republican of California, who had a net worth of between $330 million and $598 million, a significant chunk of which he earned through the Viper car antitheft system that is marketed and sold by a company he owned.
The poorest was Representative David Valadao, Republican of California, who listed debts of about $12.1 million, mostly from loans on a family dairy farm.

So Issa is worth way more than the President, and yet you just ignore the facts.
And that was 2007 - 2009 and your article is nine months old.
you seem to be quite adept at that yourself700UW said:Keep ignoring the facts and what was asked of you.
