The "bird flu" can not be transfered between humans.
This is just another diversion from your totally out of control president.
Things are going poorly in Iraq, republican senators and advisors are being indicted like crazy, poor resonse to hurricanes...
Time for a diversion or how about raising the threat level???
We stopped 10 (an even number) of threats against the US and guess where the info came from? "Iraqi sources"- how convenient!

Don't get upset over something that has a "remote chance" (per the medical community) of happening. Just Texas politics as usual.

Pandemics are not remote. They do happen, and nations need to prepare. Viruses mutate. I read that an 11 year old in Asia acquired it from a bird pet and almost died drowning in her own fluids. Its a rapid spread, mortality high 5-7 days after symptomatic.

Its a matter of time before the virus mutates bird to human to human.

My suggestion as a parent and an airline employee is for everyone to wash their hands frequently (especially before eating) and to take your vitamins. You may know where the airplane you're working just arrived from but you have no idea where the hundred or so people that just got off have been today.

Bob, the current flu shots are just for the regular flu, not bird flu. I think I read that there are like 98 million doses of regular flu available, but 4.2 million doses of bird flu available.

WRONG! Bubonic plague is an infection of the bacteria Yersinia pestis. Bird flu is an influenza virus. There are antibiotics for plague, now. Native Americans in Arizona in the 4-corners area contract plague quite often from fleas from squirrels or pet dogs or cats that kill squirrels. There is no vaccine for avian flu but there are expensive antiviral meds that will help.

The doses of the bird flu antivirus that are currently available work only for the bird-to-human virus. Once the virus mutates to the human-to-human form, it becomes a different virus altogether. Only when the virus mutates to the human-to-human form can a new antivirus be created. In other words, scientest do not yet know what the human-to-human form of the virus will even look like.

So stop the class warefare discusions - there is no antivirus for the human-to-human variant that is to come. Not for anyone. Scientest do not yet know what it looks like! You can't get a flu shot for a flu that doesn't even exist yet.
