planejane; yes i wish him/her the very best however, anyone that works for usair knows that if we refuse a direct order ITS GROUNDS FOR GETTING FIRED ON THE SPOT.

I'm just curious.. Where did you read that all engine work is under your P except
for Cowl R/I? I just want to know for future reference.. I looked over the FAR's today but they are pretty non-specific.

If what you say is correct why is it that the FAA does not allow non ticketed technicians to count time in the hangar against their 18mos of OJT for P license? Everyone I have ever known that worked at US Airways and got their A/P had to spend time in the engine shop because the FAA did not recognize engine work in the hangar. Even if it were documented.

cowls, pylons and aprons are airframe a.t.a.55, however,

AND YES THE FAA ACCEPTS HANGAR TRAINING TIME TOWARD THe A & P license its in the FAR'S.

That's like asking Jesus and Satan to stop for a cold one.

I guess it would seem that "licence pay" in this case has nothing to do with the actual work you do, or does the contract say otherwise? I doubt it.

if you want pay for both i'd suggest line or lead mech for that....everywhere else is 1/2 pay but you have both tickey's regardless.....and you must do what you're told....or else 😉

FOR WHAT IS WORTH;

THE contract has no bearing its more an f.a.r. issue.

it has to do with log book sign offs , airworthiness. a check mechanic hardly ever signs anything in the log book (leads and super do) the mechanic works of job cards (most of the time).
the line mechanic signs off all piwrups ,works of the mm , and sings off the airworthiness
thats why we need both licenses in the line., the work is the same to an extend.... hangar is preventive maint, line is troubleshoot and repair.
THIS IS HOW I SEE IT.
