Creative solutions?

A few weeks ago on the ATL news the ''largest furlough'' of employees was announced for one of the big companies (Bell South?). 40,000 employess. However they were not out of jobs permenantly. They are taking a week or two unpaid leave, scattered, so it wont hurt the company. It is saving the company millions.
Wouldn''t something like this be easier to swallow? We are all always looking for more time off.
I''d rather do that than have my health insurance go up.
Any other suggestions? We all know folks at the Crystal Palace read this board....Union reps too for that matter.

How about rationalizing fares? Advertizing? Treating our FF's with any little perk or accommodation we can?

How about "charm school" for those V.P.'s who write letters to our customers? And maybe letting certain V.P.'s know profanity is not acceptable in a place of business? (or by our union leaders either)

What about adding more mid-con and transcon flights? You know, distances too far to drive or not available by trains?

And since I am dreaming here, how about getting rid of the "non-performers" in our top-heavy management?

I'm not sure Dave wants to save the company as he says he does. I do believe he is trying to set us up for a merger or buyout. Lets face it, most airlines would love to have our gates and slots but not the overhead of employees. Dave is very much aware of that.
