APA INFORMATION HOTLINE

This is APA Communications Director Gregg Overman with the APA Information Hotline for Saturday, Dec. 29.

APA BOARD OF DIRECTORS VOTES TO APPROVE MOU: This morning the APA Board of Directors voted 11-5 to approve a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for consideration by AMR and US Airways managements and the US Airline Pilots Association representing US Airways’ pilots. If these other parties agree to the terms of the MOU that APA has approved, the MOU would serve as a framework for an agreement if American Airlines and US Airways proceed to merge. If there is no merger between the two carriers, the MOU would be rendered null and void.

We recognize that our members are understandably interested in being briefed on the specifics of the MOU. Due to a judicially enforceable non-disclosure agreement and relevant Securities and Exchange laws, APA cannot disclose the terms that our Board has approved at this juncture. We are in discussions with the other three parties to the MOU process and the Unsecured Creditors’ Committee about the timetable for their review, and when we would be permitted to divulge specific details if the MOU is approved by the respective parties. We will continue to provide regular updates as MOU-related developments warrant.

It’s worth recalling that the United Airlines pilots’ union leadership did not publicly disseminate details of their pilots’ recently ratified tentative agreement for four months while the terms were under consideration. APA is involved in a complex business transaction under judicial supervision and we are therefore legally constrained in the amount of detail we can provide.

Please note that APA headquarters is currently closed for the New Year’s holiday and will reopen at 8 a.m. Central on Wednesday, Jan. 2. The APA leadership would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday.

That’s it for now. Thanks for checking this hotline.
Secret and months away. Sounds like USAPA has no intention of releasing the MOU to the pilots to vote on.

Getting closer.....

AMR Pilots’ Board Reaches Agreement Needed for US Airways Merger

[background=rgb(245, 245, 245)]The board representing AMR Corp. (AAMRQ)’s American Airlines pilots reached a transition agreement that removes another hurdle to a combination with US Airways Group Inc. that would form the world’s largest carrier.

By an 11-5 vote, the Allied Pilots Association’s board approved a memorandum of understanding to be considered by the managements of AMR and US Airways and the U.S. Airline Pilots Association, which represents US Airways’ pilots, APA said today in a statement. No terms were disclosed.

The accord takes the carriers closer to a possible merger by minimizing the risk of labor objections and easing the two pilot groups toward a joint contract that would align pay and work rules. AMR, which has been in bankruptcy since 2011, has a board meeting set for Jan. 9 to decide whether to go ahead on a combination, people familiar with the matter have said.

The Allied Pilots Association represents about 8,000 active pilots who fly for the Fort Worth, Texas-based American, while the U.S. Airline Pilots Association represents 5,200 who fly for Tempe, Arizona-based US Airways.

A combination of American, the third-biggest U.S. carrier, and No. 5 US Airways would surpass United Continental Holdings Inc. as the world’s largest airline, based on passenger traffic.

AMR filed for Chapter 11 protection in November 2011 ahead of a fourth straight annual loss, listing $24.7 billion in assets and $29.6 billion in debt.

Ho Ho Ho... Happy St. Nic!

Did I miss something? The APA works for an airline in bankruptcy, desperately wants to oust Horton, puts a proposal on the table and calls it an MOU? I like these guys!

I don't want Nicolau, I want you all to be stapled- your job was done and you are lucky we saved you. Unfortunately, we had to integrate lists instead of just taking your routes and planes. Now we are stuck with you- like a nail fungus. So be it. APA is our Lamisil... Your pretend world will fall apart with the APA. This is going to be enjoyable to watch!

The wonderful girl next door..........Until you realize next door is the meth clinic.

None out west have ever seemed at all concerned with "sharing" pay rates, (or anything else I can think of...you can keep the "dire wolves", "spartans" et al.) Seriously though: whatever happened to "You can live on LOA93 forever!"...? 😉 Suddenly; it's now "..every benefit has been handed to the east..."? I wish you people could/would at least make up your tiny minds and stick with a position. 🙂

Cleardirect is one of the more entitled westerners. The whining goes on. For years.
