DELTA AIRLINES MOVES INTO A-EAST PHL

We blame Tempe for not negotiating our best interests with the city but instead allowing this to happen. You can't tell me that Tempe could not look out for our best interests with the city since we are the BIGGEST operation there.

Our company is CHEAP ! While WN and DL are smart enough to play the game with the city to get excellent results.
What more would you expect from Tempe?

PBI2FLL Let me ask you a question. If you had property and I needed it, how should I approach you? Should I ask and try to come to a reasonable decision or should I be very arrogant and basically demand things from you. The fact of the matter is that US Airways has screwed the state of PA so bad no one wants to deal with them any more. If US Airways were to start pulling out tomorrow from PHL the city would have no problem filling those gates. They don't need US Airways. US Airways needs PHL. This state has given so much and received so little from US Airways. Here is exactly what happened. The company went in there with a threat. The city balked and that is when SEN. Arlen Specter stepped in. This guy is not concerned about being reelected. He will be reelected. He just knows that this company has asked for so many things and continued to rip off the state the passengers and the employees of PHL. That is one reason why the political officials want to take over the ground employees. If they do so. It want hurt the airport or the employees when a company decides to cut back on flts. You will continue to work the same gates with another airline. I for one would love to see that happen. That would be real job security and the employee would not have to count on the CEO s and the board members of companies controlling their futures. Tempe thinks they will win this battle they are out of their minds. Everything that US Airways has asked for up till now has been accepted, no more. Good job SEN. Specter. Hopefully we will see more from law makers that will start holding companies accountable for their actions and atrocities!

Why are blaming this on Tempe? The city of Philadelphia made this stupid ass decision.
I know for a fact that all of our Management have been in PHL trying get gates...

For now a lot is being moved to CLT....

The City of PHL is messing up a good thing for themselves and USAIrways...

Ya know, If Usairways would have elected to give Delta 3 DOMESTIC gates in terminal B or C for their "domestic" operation it may have had little to NO impact on our operation. US tried to play hardball with the government both state and local AGAIN and lost. They don't hold the same threat and weight in PHL as they did in Pittsburgh. To blame this on PHL is dead wrong. Would YOU negotiate with a company like US? Hell no. Parker was asked by Sen. Specter if they had offered Delta the domestic gates and could not answer him so Sen. Specter finally said He'd take his lack of an definite answer as a no. US got what they deserved plain and simple.

I think that there would be many happy people of US actually left PHL. Most people I talk to to - as in customers - couldn't care less if US pulled out.

Now this is interesting....and I haven't seen it posted nor discussed here...

Apparently, after the (miss)managment team threatened PHL and ultimately Senator Specter with the good ole "if you pull these gates and award them to DL, we'll be forced to give up the China service," MaxJet filed with the D.O.T. saying, "they don't want it, strip them of the award and give it to us....

MaxJet's filing here: http://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/Cont...contentType=pdf

US Airways apparent bluff by the (miss)management team probably soothed Senator Specter as they quickly said, "no so fast."

This is just funny.....where did this team go to thug-school? I mean....it's comical....

Hey, why not say what you say, mean what you say, walk the walk and talk the talk?

Oh, that's right....because the fact is, it was never the (miss)management teams intention to actually give that or any route away....it was just threat.

Didn't Senator Specter say something along the lines of, "I'd have second thoughts about a company that operates and conducts itself like this"?

AMAZING.....just when you think you've seen it all....something else.

P.S. - Is anyone REALLY surprised that the labor groups aren't integrated? I mean, really, are you?

P.S. Nah, not really surprised that most labor groups aren't integrated! Makes for more fun when we merge with another carrier. Passenger Service was a must though since they are who the customer is in contact with.
I say big merger between end of 2009 and 20012 when contracts are up and that is when all the fun will begin. Just gonna be like one big circus.

OFF TOPIC ALERT

I for one am disgusted the leadership hasn't gotten this company working together and on the same page.....

A company's most valuable asset is the team that makes it go....for some reason, this management team doesn't see it that way. Then again, they obviously don't truly believe they need brand loyal customers for profits either....

First off, Delta should have moved to D. Southwest D Gates go over to E. Air Canada move them to F cause all they fly into PHL is RJ's anyway. DL and CO can work out of 4 gates.

I still say everybody's RJ's should use Terminal F. Bus the the DH8 from a remote area, why tie up precious gates with only 30-35 seaters. Build a Terminal G for WN where the Old Overseas, or Cargo City. Fed Ex, DHL, and Airbourne could use Wilmington. Plus there is the Northeast Airport, but not sure how the runways are there. Willow Grove just shut down too. What is the Airport doing with the PFC's they charge? Street's Construction company and Baggage Repair I guess.

Does this mean we are not going to China? Why would the city of PHL rather have Delta move in to add more domestic flights, then clean up the international concourse for US?? What a mess.

Welcome to Philly!

You've noticed a laid back attitude in Philly? Wow, that's pretty good....I transferred into PHL almost 5 years ago and if it weren't for the wide variety of flying.....I wouldn't of lasted 1 week! You tend to overlook a lot of things when you are in and out of the PHL Airport a lot. And I wouldn't call it a laid back attitude, it's more like a lazy attitude!

Nothing has been or is being moved to CLT from PHL.

Not quite accurate.

The domestic 757/767 pilot positions have been moved from PHL to CLT. How that impacts the overall operation may be minimal, but it most of it HAS been moved from PHL to CLT with a small percentage remaining in the 757/767 international blocks (to stop the spring/fall migration of pilot bids.)

On another subject:

Also, while difficult to prove, I really think that the appropriate palms were greased by SWA and that the PHL authorities subsequently had no choice in the matter. To my mind, this is the only plausible explanation for PHL politicians to be so adamant about Delta's move. The decision, and monetary exchange, was probably made quite a while back before USAirways decided to expand international service to such a degree. The money was accepted and spent and could not be returned, so there was no alternative. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but this IS Philadelphia we are talking about.

Maybe progress can be made when the new, not-yet-bribed administration takes over City Hall. (Was that too cynical, too?)
