DFW BID DISASTER STAUS QUO OR VIOLATION?

An inordinate number of DFW based employees (primarily those who've never worked anywhere else) suffer from a common delusion that they are indeed the the center of the airline employee universe, and are the best running operation of any airline and airport in the world.

Anything (or anyone) upsetting that notion is considered a status quo violation.

Dfw is prob the the worst run station of any airline............I dont care how many people come in here.....
The fact is the more you screw your people, the more the operation suffers.....been happening for years. Its all good,we have all worked somewhere else E. If you haven't been pisssed on, laid off, threatened, lied too, counseled for 2 sick days in four years..etc etc etc...and last but not least denied family leave twice for a critically ill child on life support....
you wouldn't be an American Airline employee. AA reaps what it sews, and they have been planting again!!!!Lots of luck

I guess the 29d filed wasnt a status quo violation on the bid? Its a clear violation of our contract. They attenpted to rewrite contract to suit them.

The company violating the contract and rewriting the contract is 2 completely different things. If the contract was broken, file a grievance. But a status quo violation on a bid when the contract gives them the right to run their business, that's a stretch.

From NMB.gov

Q: What does "status quo" mean?
A: "Status quo" is used to describe the terms of the contract in place at the beginning of direct negotiations. During direct negotiations, mediated negotiations, and any cooling off periods after mediated negotiations, neither party may violate the status quo by making unilateral changes in wages, benefits, or working conditions.

Tex Mex read the contract and the 29d,its a clear violation of the contract.Black and white it spells it out.

7828 VI.Vacation relief is to be bid annually during the vacation selection period. If 7829 insufficient relief bids are filled, the most junior Mechanic in the combined 7830 Line/Paint/Wheel Build-up work units, who has completed his six months qualification 7831 period with the Company, will be assigned to vacation relief periods. 7832 7833 VII. Here is a copy from the contract as agreed. The vacation relief bid should be performed during the vacation bid,but instead the company took it upon themselves to rename vacation relief. To just relief and incorporate it into the yearly bid, plus added more slots to suit their needs on the relief bid.Forcing more junior guys to relief,In fact when there is open slots 40+ open on the regular bid.So the fact is open slots on crews were denied to mechanics forced to relief. A clear violation of the agreed work rules! Now the guys have to bid slots that arent vacation relief slots at all. Another violation of the stated agreement!

Curious...What is the reaction on the floor.....? How upset are the mechanics at DFW?

The 5 that were forced to relief were a little upset, but most of us didn't know thier was a problem. The local stepped in and those last 5 were awarded thier bid positions so the relief bid now matches the number of vaction slots per week (per the union). Now there are still 40 plus slots open and those are supposed to be filled from DWH xfers and then open the xfer list which is what has most guys pissed cause there's some seniority coming over. But that'a the way the system works, seniority rules. Those guys who will get bumped back to mids will be upset and will do something about it, once they finish that level of whatever game they are playing. Unless they get an invisible shield or some upgrade, then it will have to wait...........

How many openings are there at DFW? Any plans for taking more then the 40 that came off the transfer list? Thx.

Based there Best there. Isn't that the saying?
