Dividend Miles benefits returning

I was on a transcon recently where they served shrimp appetizer, salad, choice of 3 entrees (I had osso bucco) and ice cream sundaes. Drinks flowed and service was outstanding. 2 movies were shown. In fact, one movie didn't work and they showed a movie that we wouldn't see on the return. Once people fly CO they realize just how bad US is. They take good care of their best customers. The big complaint at CO is that they only have 3 choices of entrees instead of 4 on transcons. 😱
Agreed... And you can't beat the hot nuts 🙂

OK...I almost peed myself because on my last CO flight they didn't have the ramakins with nuts but put the bags in the ovens...that was a galley humor post...

Oh, if there is one thing at which US excels, it is spin. If this rumor is true, I am sure that the spinmeisters are hard at work now, sitting around a conference table...

Yes, they're good at spin. But will they use spell check before they send it out? Probably not.

Nice to see that they will be awarding the 500 min for all Shuttle flights too, regardless of status. Guess they figured they needed to be in line with DL in the important business corridor.

Perhaps, a change of thought regarding the business traveler is starting to take place at Tempe?

I wonder if Doug & Co will man up and admit they made a mistake.

A senior VP says customer feedback and competition forced the change. A while later in the article he claims there is no evidence that the earlier change caused customers to book away. I call BS...if there was no change in the bookings then why revert back.....They cant admit they screwed up!!!!

I think this is one of a number of things that would need to change before I'd come back to US...the Sand Fleas infesting the Sand Castle would need to be sent packing....

This is CLASSIC arrogance...that is why this species of Sand Fleas is just silly:

He is new to the position and said one of the first things he did was ask staffers to "crunch the data every which way to show me how our members' behavior was changing."

"At no point did we find any conclusive evidence that we were seeing any booking away because of this," he said.

And I call BS on this!

"We did not want to be an outlier on this," Nocella said in an interview. "We value our frequent-flier members as much as every other program. Some people may have questioned that after we made those changes."

I suppose this means bookings are horrible in the not too distant future. I always said that the leisure market would dry up overnight if we entered a recession. That is when your business traveler is very important.

They should sue their MBA schools for malpractice because they got screwed when it came to learning about marketing.

Dear Fernand Fernandez,
Thank you! This is mah-velous news...

Well now it's official!

So what does it mean?

That we were right all along about elites leaving?

Is this why Travis is gone?

How bad are advance bookings?

Does this mean we will see more changes away from a la carte?

I've no earthly idea what the changes will mean going forward for US Airways or it's Frequent Flyers. I do know many for whom this decision is to little to late, but I'm pretty certain the hub captives are pretty excited.

What does it mean for me? I was frankly surprised by the reversal as Tempe has NEVER EVER admitted a mistake and judging from the commentary still hasn't.

As to what I will do?? My whole reaction was a big yawn. I just can't bring myself to feel excited by this change as all of this should have been a no brainer and never have happened to begin with.

When I get hissed off at a vendor I tend to stay that way. If I pull business as a result I tend to cut them loose and never look back and I'm wondering just how many elites feel as I do.

You realize, this business decision is partially (give it 50%+) based on the fact that the other airlines never matched. If CO, AA, UA didn't go back to the original ways, I don't know if we'd be so happy today.

That said, I think the press release was classy and not in-your-face. I'm glad they restored the bonus, and yes it shows they still care about us. I'm personally ecstatic, because like you I agree one of the nicest things about US is the Star Alliance and that you can use miles on those OA's. And of course, there is absolutely no faster way to earn these miles then w/ the 500 minimum miles and Preferred bonus miles features in place.

I got the email and had to laugh.....oh spread the love....can you feel it? We're the best, PHL is the best.......they're spinning so much they have to be yaking by now!! What they really should be saying is we're totally stupid and have a bunch of morons running the place who don't know WTF they are doing. But since so many of you have evacuated and we now realize how it can hurt us, we're backpedaling. Not enough to change my future travel plans.
