Does any one know ?

No not trying to stir up anything. I've taken days off & one of friends who is part time by choice (19 years) called & ask if I could find out why.
Personaly I could care less.
I would think that if this person did get mandatory OT ..they would know WHY (delays, diversions, etc??) If they couldn't figure it out ..ask the supervisor!
 
This isn't a nine to five "My shift is over, time to leave" job
Unless you are management....then it's 9-5 and no weekends or holidays. It always killed me when they insisted that the employees had to be there when there were blizzard-like conditions with 10" of snow on the ground and the airport is closed. Then, when you finally got there and needed to talk to (mis)management, they weren't there...the answer as to why..."the weather is too bad for them to drive to the office". Guess what...lead by example and maybe you might get people to follow.
