The DOT granted US Airways' application for FLL-CUN authority. US plans to begin service around July 17, initially on Saturdays. Spirit currently serves this route.
The DOT also denied US Airways' application for BWI/IAD-CUN authority. United serves IAD-CUN, and USA 3000 serves BWI-CUN. Under the U.S.-Mexico bilateral, two carriers from each country can be designated to serve each city pair. However, the bilateral considers WAS/BWI to be a single gateway point.
