"Easties" out West

The topic of calling reserves in their rooms for a tag was brought up by the union years ago. The company responded that reserves didn't mind and they were allowed to and called it a reroute so that gave them permission per the contract. I minded... thats why simply I did not answer my phone in my room. I did not block my call, I simply did not answer. I would use other resources to determine if there was something wrong with my trip, I refuse to answer my phone in regards to a tag. As for the scheduler on here posting. You've got some nerve. If you want to participate on this discussion board like everyone. You want to partake. You better be ready to answer some questions! And you better be ready to take some crap!

The problem is that whether or not you answer the phone it has still awakened you.

Oh, and another thing ....

I was DH'd to LAS to work a SJC turn and then overnight in LAS. My DH flight was delayed 2.5 hrs, so they re-routed us to DTW. That's fine, but what they did was adjust my schedule to show 40 minutes less of pay/credit.

I sat on that Goshdarned AC (the one that was delayed) for 2.5 hours and I was credited for less.

Writing the union a letter on that one.

Does the union in the West even care? Shouldnt someone be getting in trouble for this in scheduling? If not, then maybe they can do all this. Because if that were to ever happen over here..the union would be all over it in a hot minute! Beleive that! They do not play around over here in the east baby! The west is just gonna love it when they get the feel for someone who really fights for you and would walk on water (if needed)LOL..for the flight attendants.

It's also a little thing called respect, as well as common sense.

getting in trouble for what? being on this forum or doing what they do to us? Our reserve section sucks and the union will even admit that. When they made it was made for short term reserve... 6 months. Back when they created this sytstem.. that was the longest people were on reserve. No one cared. Plus scheduling wasn't pulling all this hanky panky. The East MEC already knows that our scheduling is a joke. They do what they please.. our guys have been puttin up a fight against this pettiness for years. Its hard to fight when its legal. Sometimes we have periods of calm around here and then we have our big periods of chaos on reserve. Our reserve chairs have fought hard for us ever since this became a long term thing. Our number one priority during section 6 negotiations was reserve!!!

So don't think our guys don't fight for us. they do. Our scheduling and the people that run it are disrespectful, rude, unprofessional, and have no idea what they are doing. Its hard for them to fight when most of this stuff is legal. And if you guys had AUTO your line holders would do it. And if you had AUTO the director of crew resources would make sure no one sits around. Just remember who is taking over in terms of operations. Our fools!

Believe me!!!
Scheduling here in PHX has been a JOKE since day ONE!!! They have NO clue on how to use the RESERVE system. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!! One day they say we are short staffed and can't get an "auto" the next day they are giving VLOA's! I don't get it!!

One thing I don't understand is, why are they approving the auto requests if everyday is critically staffed? Something is fishy here. I don't believe for one second that we are critically staffed all the time. I think someone is manipulating or controlling the numbers.Hmm...

Oh don't worry....on the east we as reserves are to be realeased from duty upon picking up a future trip. They will say that, "Due to weather on the east coast we will NOT be able to release upon trip assignment". They are getting better but sometimes it's like they really go overkill with it. One cloud making a blip on the radar screen over lake Erie and they are ready to crap their pants. 🙄 Again, they are getting better. Oh yeah, we can't break our guarantee yet the minimum flying is capped at 90 hours a month and has for some time. When was the last time we were set at 85hours a month? Another ridiculous bunch of BS. Not that we get that many hours anyway.

The last time you were capped at 85 hours in a month was this past May.

And have you seen what a cloud over Lake Erie does to the PHL arrival rate? How about LGA?

They are actually pretty good with it now but for a while the union had a problem with it. They were almost NEVER releasing. They still have an issue with releasing into days off too. I don't care if your over 70 for daily sometimes they will NOT let you go. It depends on who you get. One says no and just hang up and call back. They will say yes. Go figure. 🙄

Your more than welcome to take a position in scheduling when one comes available if you think you can do it better.

Also scheduling does not grant VLOA's. That is granted by the company. And when we see how many they give we are just as puzzled.

Do better? Half of your staff is RUDE to people. Do they teach you to be rude and insensitive to people? Do they teach you to make poor decisions when it comes to reserve scheduling? The flight attendant is your customer. If I ever was caught speaking to passengers that way I would be fired!!!! 😛h34r: It just amazes me you people have never figured it out over there. Schedulers have been turned in for the way thye have spoken to flight attendants. But Daddy Mike just slaps you on the hand and says "be good"

Again come into scheduling sit our seat and deal with your fellow FA's. You might be surprised how really professional some of your counterparts are. Or just ask the FA's that work in scheudling and daily and they will be brutally honest with you. your group is far from the perfect profesionals you claim to be.

Generalizations and the use "you people" as well as the misconcesption that a coworker is a customer shows that you have a lot to learn. Put yourself in Malikie's position for 8 hours on any given day when there is bad weather and crew shortages. Listen to the way you are treated, and then come back and post.
