Generalizations and the use "you people" as well as the misconcesption that a coworker is a customer shows that you have a lot to learn. Put yourself in Malikie's position for 8 hours on any given day when there is bad weather and crew shortages. Listen to the way you are treated, and then come back and post.

Honestly if you are from the east you have no idea. You would be in "shock and awe" if you heard what goes on over here. The minute you decide that you are going to question what is going on with a scheduler or excercise your contractual rights these people get down right mean and nasty. I have always prided myself on being prefessional with scheduling no matter what. I have heard personally, a few male schedulers down right scream at flight attendants when questioned about a reroute or calling to be released. This one time sitting hot reserve at the airport I picked up the phone to have our group released the scheduler picked up the phone yelled "your released!" and hung up. He didn't state his name... nothing. Its not right.

I agree 100% it is not right or acceptable, and that individual should be dealt with, or should have been dealt with accordingly. Hopefully the recorded lines will help to bring both sides into check.
 
my question to malikie is when you have a shortage of f/a's why is it you will approve auto requests and then tag them to f/a's. Tagging a f/a shouldn't be done at all if it's for a blockholder who decides they don't want to do a turn. This question was asked in a previous post but never answered.

Something else that really sucks over here is calling off sick. We get 10 days and you have to call scheduling everyday. You don't have a sick bank that you can accrue. If you don't want to use them all you need a doctors note, fill out a form and take a medical but it has to state that you can't work for 5 days or more. I don't know the new system for calling off sick at the east, but this one over here sucks.

AUTOS are dont in 2 parts. 1st when daily ops gets in at 9am they pull up the staffing report and the GR report. Autos will be granted and assigned out to people on GR first. If staffing is good they will request additional autos. 2nd Irregular ops(scheduling) will grant additional AUTOS after midnight if staffing is good. Now at 9am when daily does the AUTOs staffing might be good but by midnight due to the operation, PL,EL given out by the inflight sup and sk calls staffing sometimes is not good to AUTO.I can tell you that scheduling has not done an AUTO in at least 5 days.

As for tagging i will try to explain that tomorrow. But right now i have to head into work.

This month I look at the staffing online and it's always negative. So then why approve the AUTO if staffing is never good. The way I see it is....if staffing shows negative you should not approve it.

Those numbers are very misleading for your purposes. I suggest you call AFA 66 and speak with someone about what they really mean and how they are conjured.

As for AUTO's, the company saves money when a lineholder is allowed to AUTO and a lower cost reserve takes their place. Done enough times the savings to the company is substantial.
 
The whole tagging thing has spread through the east like wildfire. I can assure you that that will NEVER be one of the things kept in the new contract. I'm sure all would vote NO to that one.
 
Again come into scheduling sit our seat and deal with your fellow FA's. You might be surprised how really professional some of your counterparts are. Or just ask the FA's that work in scheudling and daily and they will be brutally honest with you. your group is far from the perfect profesionals you claim to be.

Why don't you shadow me for a trip you desk jockey? How about four legs a day, with some nice 2-3 hour sits in various airports and with min rest. Then get back to PHX and be tagged for "it is ONLY an LA turn, GET OVER IT!" The schedulers as a whole are rude and nasty and I cannot WAIT for scheduling to be moved to PIT!!!
 
I was on a 4 day which turned into a 3 day, for a reason I don't know nor did they have one for me. At the end of the 3 day they decide to tag all 3 of us for a houston turn. We had a 11 hr overnight the first night and min rest the next day in which we had a 14 hr duty day. The A f/a called off sick for the turn. We got diverted back to phx and the sup came over to our gate to ask us how we were doing. Needless to say the other f/a starts balling cause she knows she can't make it back from houston. The sup took us off the trip and gave it to Hot. This should have never been given to us in the first place. We were exausted and that's something the schedulers could never understand or care to understand. If we're too tired to fly and tell scheduling they say.....so are you refusing to fly? And there rude about it. I mean come on down and do a 3 day and get tagged with min crew rest after a 14 hr duty day.
 
I don't know how schedulers are paid at US Airways.

However, I know that at the very large regional where I worked at HQ, the schedulers made just less than $10 an hour, frequently got held over if there were delays at night, and dealt with mean/demanding supervisors plus they were short staffed themselves. One of my coworkers in my department was an ex scheduling supervisor who escaped when she could. If they had issues staffing trips, they got chewed out by their managers.

I am NOT making excuses for rude behavior or their actions. However, just think of their working conditions and remember it may be poor as well (or at least it was where I worked).
 
Oh I realize it is probably a thankless job and there is one scheduler well OK, two one is lady with a name that starts with a J and one is a guy with name that starts with a R. Both are always really nice to me and I always go out of my way to be nice to them too. They answer any questions I have and always makes sense when they tell me why they are doing what they are doing, and I am always happy to help them out. However, there is one women, with a name that starts with a L that is a total wench and if I ever see her in a crosswalk I am speeding up....she was fired once because she is such a b1tch somehow ended up back.
