If we can't have a better union at least we can shed some dead weight. Great job O-man on being apart of change! PHL has set up a slate and they ran unopposed due to the anger of how things have been ran. We need to get by-laws changed so we can get rid of entreanched deadwood. We also need to send a loud message to the IAM we will not approve of a dues hike without some action for the membership. This is a train we need to all be apart of. I have said this before and I will say it again. We must use this forum for change. We have a huge oppertunity to finally get everyone on the same page and show the IAM that we are the real union. Good luck to all of those who are working in the best interest of the group. The next move is to change the District!

Everyone needs to encourage their friends and co-workers the importance of this vote. Times they are uh changing.

We are all chipping in to rent a van for next Thursday. Hugh in ABR and myself will be driving a shuttle during all voting hours.

P.S. a dollar toward the gas/rental would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Oman and everyone else that will be voting in CLT,
Check your locals By-Laws about the where the vote is to take place for grievance commmittee chair. I know for a fact that in my local the station grievance committee chair is only nominated at the local, and the vote is to take place AT THE STATION, not the local. You may need to check this out before the 13th. But like I said, those rules are for my local, so check you local's By-Laws and see where exactly the vote is to take place. Hope you get the right guys in place. GOOD LUCK!!!

BYLAWS OF LOCAL LODGE NO. 1725
ARTICLE III - OFFICERS AND STEWARDS

Section 8. Local Lodge Officers are to be elected for a three (3) year term, being nominated in November of election year, elected in December following nominations and take office in January following elections.

(a) Grievance Committeemen are to be elected for a two (2) year term, being nominated in November every two years, elected in December following nominations and take office in January following elections. The Grievance Committee Chairman will be the person who receives the highest number of votes.

There won't be an additional vote.

Does it state where the election should take place? In my locals by-laws it states "with the election being held at the respective station." Is that statement anywhere in your by-laws? Just curious. If it is, there would be no need to shuttle people to the voting place.

I don't recall ever having a vote at the station. That would make it too easy for us. It seems like they would rather have it off the airport property to keep the turnout low.

No, The by-laws do not make that stipulation in the grievance committee election.
The shop steward election, though, does have stipulations:

Section 7. Shop Stewards and their Alternates shall be elected from and by members in each designated shop/work area, on each shift in that shop/work area. The Local Lodge will provide a Nomination Sheet, to be posted during the second week of December, which will be posted for 10 consecutive days. The Local Lodge will then be forwarded the Nomination Sheet, with all Nominations that are signed to be considered as accepted. The Local Lodge will then provide for the Shop Steward Election a ballot for each shop/work area by shift, with the election to be held in January of each year. The Election results shall then be forwarded to the Local Lodge Recording Secretary.

We are pushing hard and posting a call for Shop Steward
election. I can not remember the last time CLT had enough
nominees for an election to be held.
IMO I think we had a communication problem, but I think
the fires have been lit in CLT. From now on...
There will be elections!

US Airways Group Inc. Chief Executive Doug Parker and other senior executives have signed new compensation agreements with the airline to provide benefits in the event of a takeover or a merger that involves more than 50 percent of the voting power of the company.
Under the agreements, top executives of the Tempe, Ariz.-based airline (NYSE:LCC) are entitled to payments equal to at least twice their annual base salaries, or 200 percent for President Scott Kirby and Chief Operating Officer Robert Isom, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Several executives previously had change-of-control pacts with the company.
US Airways has its largest hub at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport.

look at who is running for TRUSTEE , representing Fleet Service .

I guess what I am saying is CAN you still TRUST this person to be your TRUSTEE and have YOUR not his best

interest at heart.
