EMBRAER ANNOUNCES ERJ SALE TO REPUBLIC AIRWAYS HOLDINGS
Embraer today announced that Republic Airways Holdings has confirmed 12 options for ERJ 145LR regional jets, with four to be delivered by October, and eight, pending Republic arranging financing, to be delivered by February 2004. The contract, valued at $240 million, was announced at the Regional Airline Association (RAA) 2003 annual convention. This year’s edition takes place in Phoenix, Arizona on May 18 - 21.

Republic Airways Holdings subsidiary airlines already operate 71 Embraer ERJ 145 Family aircraft, giving them one of the largest Embraer jet fleets in the world. Republic Airways Holdings, based in Indianapolis, Indiana is an airline holding company. Republic currently owns two regional airline subsidiaries: Chautauqua Airlines, based in Indianapolis, Indiana and Republic Airlines, based in Louisville, Kentucky.
The ERJ 145 Family of Regional Jets
Embraer’s ERJ family provides the capacity flexibility needed by operators to satisfy the regional markets. Embraer aircraft have a rugged, proven structural design developed specifically for regional airline missions. They are well-suited for high frequency use and typically operate around 3,000 hours per year.
The ERJ family members (the 37-seat ERJ 135, 44-seat ERJ 140 and 50-seat ERJ 145 and ERJ 145 XR) share above 95% commonality between all models, with low operational, crew training and maintenance costs. The ERJ’s systems and main components can be easily accessed, simplifying maintenance activities and providing for faster turnarounds.
Since 1996 more than 700 aircraft of the ERJ family of regional jets have been delivered worldwide. Currently the Embraer ERJ 145 family holds 889 firm orders and 475 purchase options.
