F/A busted at customs

Just a couple of points.

US1, take a look at a few minis in the future. Nearly all of them do indeed say "Transportation" somewhere on the bottle. The may be on the label or printed on the container itself.

Also, I don't know East FA routing, specifically if arriving FA's from a Transatlantic leg are often scheduled for a domestic leg or not, but suppose a FA arrived and had a leg and was detained in Customs while all other crew members made it through. That would potentially either make the FA or the crew late to the next flight and then it is definately the company's business. As I said, I don't know what the schedules are, but that is one possible answer.

All the minis found in my bags by the CBP inspectors are 50 ml; every mini I steal from the carts on AA are 50 ml; every mini at my house is 50 ml; perhaps the cheapskate drunk in charge of USAir (Dougweiser, isn't it?) buys smaller minis for USAir than AA? I knew US cut corners, but even smaller minis than other airlines? 🙄

50 ml = 1.7 oz

What are you talking about? You don't come in from an international trip and do a domestic leg. We're not talking about Canada and Mexico.

Uhh, thanks. I pointed that out to sharktooth a little over 26 hours ago in post #24: http://www.usaviation.com/forums/index.php...st&p=545504

Looks like your math and my math are in agreement. 😀

See, sharktooth asserted (somewhat incorrectly, IMO) that a typical mini was one ounce. I countered (completely correctly) that nearly every mini I've seen for the past decade or two is actually 50 ml which indeed equals 1.7 ounces, not one ounce.

Did you bother to read what I said and how I said it before turning on the flamethrower?

How completely arrogant, EMB. Canada and Mexico are not considered Transatlantic, which is the wording that hp fa used in his/her post, so what are YOU talking about?

To respond to your post like an adult, hp, we do not have domestic legs tagged onto transatlantic pairings.

No - the original question was

Then the OP stated what "this" was

You're right - the word "theft" was not used, but combine "26 mini's in luggage" with "fired supposedly" and it paints a pretty good picture of why a firing "supposedly" took place.

Unless one is incredibly dense.....

Jim

Or someone demands facts and not just fantasy. Just hate leaping to conclusions (many times erroneous) like many around here.

In case you didn't notice, the initial post contained this:

I didn't know that customs had the power to fire US employees.......so wouldn't the implication be that US "supposedly fired" the employee? And for what - having something confiscated by customs or more likely alleged theft of liquor from the airplane?

Jim

Jim,

Who would be there to make a theft allegation?

What's arrogant? You'd think a F/A would know you don't come in from a transatlantic trip and then continue on.

You assume? Could it be possible that a HP fa might not know that, seeing as they have not flown Transatlantic? Or, maybe they are all just much more stupid than their "East" counterparts (you know, the ones that voted in the last 3 concessionary USAir contracts and went to work for MDA, a "division" that paid less than HP....)

Glass houses.... 😛h34r:

Apparently the West does not know our schedules, so I can see the confusion here, but my eyes did bug out  when I read the part about continuing on after a transatlantic flight. That was comical...don't give the company any ideas, like FCO-PHX-LAS-PHL!!! Sure, that's under fourteen flight hours if you subtract all the time zones, right?

About the minis, I have only seen the word 'Transportation' on the side of the vodka bottles and on no other. It doesn't matter anyway because the company has sent a memo saying that crewmembers are not allowed to be in possession of minis regardless of whether they purchased them or not.

I dunno, but who wants to bet that the west Scheduling would like to be able to do that if they could, knowing how they treat people out there with all that tagging?
Exactly. And who wants to bet that the company would not LOOOOOVE to be able to do this in the future! You get what you negotiate....... 😛h34r:

So what I am reading here is that the company said we are not allowed to bring our own purchased mini's? So I'm a Grey Goose vodka drinker and can't bring my own? I don't see how they could prevent you from doing so. That's YOUR business. Where is this memo. Not discounting that the memo exists but simply would like to read it. The morons that write this $H!T at US. Ugggggh.

I agree. But I will keep my receipt, nevertheless.
