Today as the F/A's were tidying up the cabin, one of them pointed out a used tissue hanging out of the seat pocket and said that she wasn't touching it, and that it could just stay there for all she cared.
So she left it......Nice attitude! It is now part of her job! She better get used to it!
So now we all know that utility did do something else besides drink coffee and read the newspaper 😉

It is not part of their job where utility is still staffed.

I just have a question. If I remember correctly there were ALOT of F/A cleaning stations. What is so damb hard about cleaning a damb plane? Stop being a bunch of lazy winers and just do it. I did it for a short time before I was furloughed from mainline and now I do it after every leg at MAA. Come on...you have got to be kidding me when you are that lazy that you can not grab a tissue. Put on the gloves that are supplied to you and pick it up. It has been a year that MAA has been around and the planes still look beautiful!!! They are always clean. Because we clean them. All you have to do is make a simple announcement during the approach and tell passengers to check in there seat pockets for cups, papers, tissues, bottles....ect..and then as you walk through..if you see some thing sticking out..ask them for it. Also announce to check the floor around their feet for trash and hand it to the F/A's. Now how difficult is that? Get used to it people...because this is how it is gonna be. If you do not like it..leave! There are 2000 F/A's that wanna come back. After we make those announcements there is basically nothing to do except cross seatbelts. Yeah you may not like it..but, this is a LCC now..so that is what they do.

Mainline f/as do not clean Hub cities on shifts that IAM untility are cleaning. Period.

Follow the contract language (SIDE LETTER). That is what was negotiated. Until such time that USAirways Utlity IAM cleaners are not present, F/AS WILL NOT CLEAN THESE STATIONS!!!!!

Again, carry the side letter, and call your local asap when you are being pressured by either a gate agent, pilot, to clean these stations that our utlity folks are to clean.

fatherof2,
Was it a hub city? There are alot of cities that are cleaning stations.

How about outsourcing cabin cleaning duties to the customers by making them clean up after themselves? It is amazing how some people are such pigs and have such disregard for others property especially commercial property. Makes you wonder what their homes looks like.

Utility also gets rubber gloves. FA's get nothing. Lets all look down on the flight attendant who did not want to touch a used kleenex/snot rag with there bare hands. Not the pig who sneezed and wiped there nose with this and left it for someone else to pick up.

I do agree!!!!!!!!! I have said that so many times. But, they just figure that someone will clean. If we let them know that it is the F/A's, they are not as messy. I have told passengers so many times if they have alot of stuff to throw out and they are real hesitant about giving it to me that WE have to clean..Beleive me , they give it all to you. They even clean the seat pockets out too.

Well, that is new to me. Because we have always gotten the rubber gloves. They are a mandatory item on our A/C.

I may be wrong but aren't those gloves for safety purposes not cleaning.

Latex gloves are suppose to be in the PSK and the emergency kit. The ones in the PSK are for picking up trash, the ones in the kit are for medical situations.

That possibly explains why we have trouble getting them on our aircraft.....

Well, there seems to always be a few of the gloves in the back galley ..not for emergency puposes. They are for cleaning purposes. They also were supplying us with the plastic goves that we used to use on mainline longhaul flights for food pick-up. The gloves were in a box. But, if you ask someone for a box of latex gloves they will give them to you. Usually the ramp has them floating around somewhere. All you gotta do is open your mouth and ask. Besides, if you clean the plane properly during the approach you will not need those gloves. I am telling you, there will not be anything to pick up. I may find a newspaper and a soda bottle..that is it. Maybe someone needs to spread the word at mainline to clean the plane as much as possible during the approach than see how much trash there is after the passengers deplane. I gaurentee there will not be much to pick up. Just try it!!! 😉

You should ALWAYS use gloves, you do not know what is on the items you are picking up.

It is just plain gross if you don't.
