Fa Shortage For The Holidays?

WOW....was listening to the flight attendant reserve updates for the 24th and all the bases were extremely short staffed except for the LGA and BOS bases. OUCH!

Probably due to all those restrictive work rules in the contract. And of course the 10% sick call rate. Just kidding, though I'm sure that there are those that will give those reasons.

Ya know, Delta cut back so savagely some years back with their draconian and foolish 7.5 Plan that industry analysts coined the term "corporate anorexia." Cost saving cuts that end up costing more than they save. Sound familiar?

It's time for that Harvard boy wonder to call some folks back from furlough!

OK I know next to nothing about the U F/A reserve system, but how is it that all month (and really for a few months now) we have seen U F/As on hear going on and on about how they aren't making their time and are sitting at home not flying and how they can apply for partial unemployment because they aren't being used... and now there is suddenly a shortage?

You are right, Bear. If you are schedule to work, you're scheduled to work. Make it a fun trip. I chose to work because I had no plans and didn't feel like debating which relative to visit. I just got the Christmas morning gift bags ready to put on the crew's doors. I had more fun doing that than buying for relatives. I plan to treat my crew like the yungins I ain't got.

Hmmm Interesting... Last Year I sat On Quick Call all day Xmas Eve and didn't get a thing...This year they are scrambling like they did in 02...F/As Remember Mgmt Collecting ANYONE in a Uniform...... Guess Someones not doing their Job... <_<

Call it what you want folks, but AFA told managment repeatedly, when you force folks to come to work sick, YOU INFECT EVERYONE! And what do we have here? Granted, we have always had high sick rates during the holidays. But we do have a definite reduction in force. so, if you have 2 people that run a business and 1 person calls in sick; that means the sick rate for that business is at 50% VS. having a business that has 30 people and having to have 15 people sick for it to be 50%.

WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE U F/As BETWEEN LAST WEEK (when they were apparently sitting around on their duffs complaining about not being able to work) AND THIS WEEK?
