First Eastern Winter Storm of Season

This thread is great and a perfect example of the BS here.
People are complainig about Tempe when whatever decesions being made are employees in PIT almost exclusively old USAIR folks.

I seem to recall last winter when one storm went well everyone was saying it was becuase PIT was in charge and not Tempe!

Oh lord, aren't we all bored with West vs. East nonsense? *yawn* Isn't this about the weather? Was there not an article in "About Us" recently that states we started preparing for winter ops last May, and we can handle anything?

All of yalls beotching is East vs West!
Easties are the ones that need to grow up!

Last winter went well who was responsible for planning that?

Tempe? Tempe?!

Are they the geniuses that designed an airline with a route-structure where every hub and focus city is simultaneously impacted by every garden-variety winter storm that comes along?

No THAT is where the money is. And it/s called winter in the North East. We have dealt with it for decades and still managed to operate a reliable operation short of a BLIZZARD. So much like the holidays, winter happens every year it just seems it always "sneaks up" on the Brain trust out west. Winter NOW must have it's cloaking device activated from NOV-MAR.

Well, not always. Remember the storm (much like this one) when they had to call every station and get someone to go out and get a list of tail numbers that were overnighting there because dispatch had lost track of where the planes were? Crews flew till they ran out of time, then were sent to hotels with a "We'll call you"? Some of those crews spent 3-4 days at the hotel because scheduling forgot about them?

Correct.... however the airport was already closed and WN had not cancelled yet.... USAiways website was already offering to rebook....way before WN

Which airport was closed on Thursday or Friday?

Your information and your argument are not consistent.

Someone I met along the way at US once said the US Airways jingle should be "We're US Airways, and we love to fly where it snows" with the old DL music

I have to be brutally candid that pre merger ONE of the reasons I was so loyal was that to me NO ONE did a better job then US during irregular opps. In nearly 10 years as a CP I got stuck someplace where I missed a meeting exactly ONE TIME!

I have noticed some slippage since the SHARES abortion was implemented. But honestly it seemed to more of the HP folks open contempt for Elites at the G/A level as ALL of my complaints were regarding customer service during irregular opps and being creative in getting me home. All of the incidents were in west stations and in all fairness we're talking about three additional issues over a 4 year period which in my view isn't horrible.

I'm not saying that getting where I was going was all hats & horns, however to me it's important to note that I did arrive at my destination in time to make my meetings. The other three times I had issues I was coming home and IMO were unavoidable. The west CSR's didn't go the extra mile and on one occassion were downright obnoxious.

The past few days great grief a total mess.

USAirways now boarding flight 845 with nonstop service to the deicing pad and back. Please wait until your zone is call this is a beverage flight only"

5 hours later- Flight 845 now arriving back at gate B16. 😱

See them putting the A330-200 on ferry flights between PHL-PIT-CLT to p/u crews? Great idea actually. I'm surprised they didn't put it on CLT-HNL. :lol An A330-200 seriously? Really?

Haaa haaa haaaa!!! stfu, really?!?!?!

I could say a thousand things right now, but nope, I won't... I'm sure they know what they are doing, and quite frankly I'm kinda glad I'm not working during this fallout.

I hope our pax are getting where they need to go.

Ferry??? A 330??? Haaa haaa haaaaaaaa!!!!

I can't remember the flight number but they started with a 9. The equipment was a 332 if you can believe that. If you look it up on the ETC it doesn't show one running between PHL-PIT-CLT so they must not be carrying paying passengers I guess. That I don't know. It is nice to see they are doing a lil' taxi service for the crews. Put one on PIT-PHL daily and this place would run like clockwork. 😉 I'm joking before someone from PIT gets their panties in a wad.

*pfffffttttttt haaa haaa haaa*

You know what, gurl??? That should TOTALLY be in the next contract!, cause, like, it's only fair, considering... And with the BOS-LGA closings, it should just loop-ti-loop and make the rounds for the inconvenience... Maybe it could stop by BWI too for old time's sake - in red and white to paint to honor Metrojet and the 9-hole-tray glory...

If anyone is working that flight tomorrow just remember on the A330-200 between PIT-PHL it's a hot breakfast gurl. On a serious note I sure hope they let pax on that plane. I'm sure we have stranded passengers all over. I just hope the company has taken care of them.

Ok it's 79114. LOL

Does this mean they will send a limo to take us to the airport if we live in PHL?

Let me explain this to you: the ex-East dispatchers in PIT know their stuff. However, even Michael Jordan did not win playing for the Wizards. And he can't shoot a basketball with his hands cuffed behind his back.

Tempe can't run an operation, lacks any operational acumen, and generally can't deal with tactical operational concerns unless it can be recovered by the Excel autosave feature.

Keep deluding yourself into thinking there is talent in the desert.
