Don't know if this is old news or not. I don't live in PIT but my folks do and said the local news is reporting that U is cutting the fleet down to 211 by fall. If this is old news, sorry. But I have been on vacation and haven't kept up with the doings of U at all! Thanks.

I don't know 320, but my math is 279 - 60 = 219. I believe this is by Feb.

So, it pretty damn close.

You are just full of charm. How much longer until you are on reserves? I truly wish you the best. 😉

If my memory serves me correctly from the bankruptcy court filing, I believe at the end of February 2006 the fleet count will be 221. At the end of October the fleet will be about 240 aircraft. US Airways' current pre-merger fleet plan is scheduled for 11 more B737s to be removed I believe in 2009, but there is a caveat that says GECAS can force the release of these aircraft starting in June 2007, with 1 aircraft returned per month through May 2008.

This is the end of current scheduled reductions and will create a fleet count of 210 aircraft (pre-merger).

Late last week US Airways' Resource Planning Department sent a message to all pilots indicating the September permanent bid will be rolled over to October. Marketing & Planning is finalizing the winter schedule and it's expected the pilot November - December bid will be released in a few weeks, where a further reduction of PIT flying is expected according to the Chief Pilot.

Thank you for your comments, which are very informative. They provide message board readers with a lot of US Airways information.

So, if the US fleet keeps shrinking, and flying on the US side continues to be drawn down, AND the fences the US people are touting to sell DOH to the HP people are put in place, what effect will this have on the US-side employees?

I think we are seeing the organized liquidation of US.
