What's new

The word is spreading....

Hey! Freedom! That's a bit over the top. Don't ya think?
Everything on the Forum is pointed! Wow! We're trying to get corporate to read these inputs. Alas! They are in Rome and we are left figuring out the new systems in the conversion. Lord, help us!
Have to tell ya, there was a unspesified person with a protest sign sitting inside the terminal 4, Phoenix protesting. "U.S Air is Unfair". No one knew if he was employee or traveler. Cops were questioning him. Protest April 12. HQ 3pm to 6pm. All unions and non union invited. "Freakie Thursday". Day before Friday the 13th.

yep your right that is over the top , but we can always save that for if HQ decides not to abide by the arbitration ruling which i'm sure will favor us , when ever that actually get's around to happening .See you at the protest!

i think corporate fails to realize that it is the actual airline operation that keeps the airline running and keeps them employed.

I think they do. They realize the importance of each group to the whole operation, and they also realize how easy it is to replace some people. Hence they pay just enough to keep you but not so low you'll leave. It's just a business. If you feel you are underpaid I don't think you can force them to pay more. What are you going to bargain with?

. . . I'm so pissed at the down right INJUSTICE of this company that i will see it DRIVEN INTO LIQUIDATION!!! before i give up , we in the WEST aka former america west employee's are being treated in an UNJUST fashion . . .

I hate to say it freedom, but this is just the sort of negative attitude I'm speaking about. It's not a matter of me, the customer, threatening to go elsewhere. If I make a decision to leave US, it's not because of anger or my attempting to threaten/cajole the company into doing what I want.

All business relationships succeed or fail based upon the product/service received. If a business fails to deliver, or dealing with that business becomes a pain-in-the-ass, then it's simply time to move on -- nothing personal. It happens to be that many of us who flew US pre-merger were also influenced by the great job most east folks did over the years, despite the ups and downs. And that certainly made US more palatable to fly despite how hard management worked to cluster fu*k the airline and employees.

It's pretty clear that Tempe is going to sit back and let employees duke it out as contracts come up. It's one of many choices sitting out there for management to pursue ( I happen to believe that it's the wrong choice ). Ultimately, people have decisions to make. There's ways to make an argument and ways not to do it.

In the past, lots of us have stood by US through thick & thin. Judging by conversations I have with FF folks when I fly, I don't think many folks will hang around to see how things turn out this time, especially if it does indeed get ugly.

Once again, hoping that things remain calm when turbulence strikes.

i'm not sure you know what's going on , read the protest thread , that might be more informative . if you worked at a job for 10 dollars an hour but were suppose to be getting 15 an hour and were not while others around you did the same job as you and made 15 , how mad would you be ? i have no tolerance or patience for being treated like a second class worker. The company needs to understand that we will revolt out here on the west ... So it is not us the workers who will screw you over , it is the company treating us in a very literally UNFAIR manner that will force us to revolt therby making us screw you over .Most of us would rather not get all fired up , we have better things to do with our lives , but if you pushy any person and bully them , they WILL eventually stand up for themselves.

. . . i think corporate fails to realize that it is the actual airline operation that keeps the airline running and keeps them employed. for some reason they think it is their actions in corporate that casue the airline to survive. last time i checked, no passengers meant no airline. I've never heard of an airline stay an airline without any flights . . .

You make a great point about how inertia can fool someone ( or a gorup of someones ) into thinking that they possess the ultimate knowledge.

For the time being, US is going to keep on flying no matter how well or how badly they do the job. It's kind of like trying to stop a supertanker on a dime -- it will drift for miles before finally slowing down and halting.

It's really about management making operational decisions which look both to the present and to the future, employees who feel they have a future and can pour themselves into the job, and customers who have reasonable expectations and receive reliable service in return. It's all a collective effort/relationship.

I won't speak for employees as it's your destiny to choose. But I describe Tempe as "short-sighted" and "cheap" and passengers as "tired" and "exasperated".

But the ship will indeed keep moving forward -- but will it founder and run aground?

What are you talking about..Senior USAir topped out agents should be up to 25 plus an hour and worth every penny. Why do you think they went into bankruptcies twice? Only and I mean only to break the contracts.

Hello! Wow, do we have a difference of information here!
We on the West are under TWU. A 10 year employee makes 13.65. A top out agent is 13 years at 15.00. We have been told here 18 months ago we would receive 17.60 or around that when we went IAM. Aparently, we are STUCK back in the bankruptcy court Judge Mitchell thru Us Airways in 2003 and 2005 determining the "Change of control" clause allowing a Snap back to the original 22.50, I forget, when everyone senior agent made money before the bankruptcy. So, for Westies, fleet agents at ten years are waiting for a five dollar raise for the last 18 months and the Easties are waiting for 5 dollars back at the original pay scale. Now, do we want the Protest at corporate. Don't DUMN down AMERICA.

If we were to be awarded snap back, which was negotiated and agreed upon by the company in the event of "change of control, the top out pay would have been 22 and change, then we would have progressed to what now should be our pay of 25 plus. If management is awarded bonuses in the millions and the employee groups "balk", the first thing out of their mouths is that..."Well, it was in their contract".
WHAT!!!!!! We have contract also, but management certainly does not honor them.

Can anyone who worked back during the first bankruptcy fill me in with how the honorable Judge Steven Mitchell decided how to side with U.S. Airways breaking pensions and taking concessions and then was he there for the next bankruptcy contract also. I'm hearing mixed information about how or maybe not, the "Change of Control" was in the 2nd contract or was it only in the original contract. Any takers.

The only pension that was terminated in the first bankruptcy was the pilots.

Everyone elses pension was left in place.

It was during the 2nd bankruptcy that the judge let the company terminate all the remaining pensions, and after sitting in the courtroom during various hearings, I would not call mitchell honorable, I would say he was bought and paid for by US Airways.

Change of control was in the 2002 restructuring CBA for the IAM Mechanic and Related and I believe fleet, cant speak for the other groups.

Is there anybody out there that might be thinking we are headed with a major Reregulation of the airlines. I also read somewhere that these Pompus financiers are now going to go head to head with congress. Congressmen were not going to allow states to loose jobs to help consolidate Delta. Now, if I'm reading some of the US Airways news, they are going after international airlines just because they can. I'ts time to stop the insanity of a few wealthy thinking they're creating jobs and not the American dream by any means any more.

O.K. Talked to a mechanic in Phx. 7 years AWA 2 years US Air. Hasn't had a raise in all that time. Tried Southwest 3 times. They have about 500 Apts in a weeks time. Under there other union IBT no gives from AWA. UNDER IAM and the company, OFFERED 45 cents an hours about 7 months ago. He has no place to go. No raise in 10 years. Lowed paid mechanics in the industry. You MAD NOW!. Rally, April 12, HQ 3-6pm.
