Flight Attendant Weekend Obligation/Restrictions EAST

Good for you! My beef isn't xmas anyway, but it is called senority, my friend. It doesn't mean much these days but it should be honored. I worked my years of weekends and shouldn't have ANYONE junior to me with them off over me if i choose to not work them.

You know, you should transfer over to west when you can. You will fit in there as MANY of them have the same disregard for senority that you seem to have..that is unless it somehow is to your disadvantage.

What a Jack ###. So, what I am hearing is " Screw all the people below you". You sound like a real team player. You really want to #### about loss of seniority, try biddng reserve. You cry way to much. You need to live in the real world, pal. And I don't have any disregard for seniority. I just feel everyone should get a piece of the pie. Sorry you don't feel that way. You sound like all you want to do is screw our new fellow employees. Lord, help them. Quit trying to take everything they have out un the west. We need to find common ground. You probably won't like that, but I can live with it and so can you. You probably think ETB trips should go into Min. Guarantee also. If that happens, most BH's will be flying 85-90 hours per month and we RSV's will sit back and take 73 hour min pay. I used to work 95-100 hours per month, went 4 years w/o a sick call. You didn't have to beg me to come to work. I did it because it was my job. Now we sit around and get 35-45 hours, so don't ever #### to me about you not wanting to fly a weekend. One of the reasons they changed it was because rsv use was spiking on weekends and they wanted to even it out. By the way, where is your trip this weekend?

What a totally arrogant and improper thing to say, do you realize a lot of us have 17+ plus years of STILL working weekends and holidays! And with the airline shrinking there is no end in sight to fix that problem.....it seems to be getting even more senior!

i think the reserves in clt are an unusual case. talking with friends based in clt it seems that you might not fly on days on, so giving up days off is'nt a big deal...especially if you live five minutes from base. however some reserves dont live in base, they do have a crash pad that they sit in all week waiting for a trip and not getting one....SO the last thing they want to do is sit with their face glued to the etb board trying to pick up a trip on the only REAL days off they have. and before someone says "its your choice to commute", most people now who are pushed back on rsv dont choose to commute. i for one always lived in base...the last one being 100 miles south of philly.paying people 71 hours min and leting them fly another 40- 50 hours on their days off cannot be cost effective. work 50hrs get payed for 120hrs? ....i invite ANYONE in clt who is LOVIN this reserve system to come try it in phl. after your first 1 hour 20min one day trip or a couple of sessions of forced opr with no trip awarded you might not be LOVIN IT for too long. the fix here is to create more lines with all that opentime.

Do you not think we fly 1+20 one days. We fly CLT/RDU turns for 1+30. WE DH to JAX and work back to CLT for 1+15. It didn't take long for BH's to realize they couldn't just say "any 1 day to scheduling". Now they say "any 1 day, 4+ hours". That leaves the rest to RSV's. We need to get the Min daily pay chenged to 4 hours. We do forced OPR down here also. You know you can only be forced to do OPR twice in a month,Don'y you? Read your contract. It's online at the AFA website. And yes, I agree, create more lines. But before they will do that, you have to let go of the Bid Sheet( hopefully in my lifetime). This system is the worst for commuters. I commuted for 8 years(luckily before this system was here). I really feel for commuters. This system is great for someone in base. I think we are on the same page here, you just didn't understand some things some of my points. Hope this cleared them up for you. Every RSV is a different case. What I am loving is BH's have to fly on weekends. That is what this thread is about, BH obligation to fly weekends. And when it is my turn to fly weekends again, I will, however, I won't whine about it(LCC). Everyone deseves a piece of the pie, East and West.

i have been around for a few years here and i have spent most of my career on reserve. trust me i know how opr and other reserve issues work, it just seemed strange that someone would be loving this reserve system. im glad you made yourself clearer 109uw. i obviously misunderstood what your point was. on the other hand i can completely understand the frustrations of some block holders. as a reserve their was always a light at the end of the tunnel....better schedule, pay, vacation..etc. we are all stagnating. block holders and reserves. the system is broken and it needs more than just a bandaid here and there!!! more lines need to be built. this way reserves will become blockholders and f/a's of every seniority can have a better quality of life. just my 2 cents B)

Unlike some people who post here, I am not one who thinks just because you are a res. F/A, you should be crapped on. The way some of these people think, BH's should fly only M-TH and RSV's should have to fly F-Sun. Also, if you are going to change things, change them for all involved, not just for the BH's. RSV's have definitley taken a hit more than BH's, and any junior BH who falls on RSV will testify to that. I for one, hope that when this all shakes out, we(US East and West) are all taken care of(RSV's and BH). In the end, we are all on the same team and hopefully, do our jobs and represent our new company well.

I am a 21 year USWest f/a. I had no idea about your weekend obligation/restriction..... but I thought you guys at USEast might find this interesting. I always fly weekends (by choice) - I can hold weekdays without any problem..... but weekend flying at West is typically pretty senior. A lot of students, moms, etc. bid to work weekends. I usually am right around my seniority with the people I fly with. When I first started flying weekends I thought I would be really senior on the line - nope - I am usually within 20 bid positions of who I am working with.

STOP! I empathize completely with your gripes on all of this....but picketing? this friday? causing any type of flight interruptions over the holidays does nothing to corporate people! IT WILL NOT AFFECT THEM! It's all of us in rez who end up having to answer the phones, work SRD, reaccom due to cxld flight because no crew showed up...WE ARE THE ONE'S WHO SUFFER...YOUR FELLOW EMPLOYEES....

MAKE YOUR POINT...BUT NOT OVER XMAS...PLEASE... many of us last year due to the baggage issues worked 170 hours in 2 weeks because of all the crap. We would really like to have a "normal" holiday season..(and some time with our families ourselves this year)..if there are wx issues..ok..we'll deal with that...but having to deal with stuff bcz of our own employees at this time of year really isn't fair to us.

BELIEVE ME...DP will be at home with his family...other execs same...REZ will be working overtime on SRD and reaccoms bcz of this. Picketing i do support...plz dont have a sickout..(i remember a few years ago when that happened too) at this time anyway...

this is the only part of unions i dont appreciate bcz one work group has issues and its the others who suffer. dont misunderstand...i support your issues...just think about those of us who have to deal with things...bcz of the "timing" of the protest. thats all...again it wont affect DP or his staff at all...thx all

We were picketing not striking!!! Big difference there bambino! Get educated on the matter and support your co-workers. Our group would have to be released to strike in order for "crews not to show up to their flights". We were out there that specific day since that was the day Hawaii started.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...but didn't we get the VM day thing back as per the pilot "me too" grievence they won??

Over here at East, you would be the minority. Most people here feel RSV's should only fly on weekends. It's a shame we don't use RSV'a as RSV's and not just to pick up time that a BH doesn't want. That is one of the problems here, we don't utilize our RSV F/A's correctly. I've already talked with scheduling over here on the East side about all the BH who might call in sick on Christmas weekend, because it falls on a Sunday. They have already anticipated that and made a list from the ETB to check it off. There are 6 pages of trips on the ETB and alot of them are island 1 days. BH's wanted these trips the rest of the month, but just not on Christmas weekend. That is why they are watching to see what happens. Again, want their cake and eat it too.

Well, scheduling on the west side definitely does not know how to utilize reserves either - they are like lambs to a slaughter. However, that being said, I don't think our scheduling department is smart enough to copy trips from the ETB to compare to sick calls. There are 2 day trips on Xmas eve that have $200 cash on them and they are still there......and you only know what will happen when they are not picked up.

Your right, Crew sched. would have a problem keeping track of what happens this weekend. that is why I brought it to their attention now. Also, we hve a RSV person here in CLT who also has printed out the ETB trips posted for the 24th and 25th. That way, when a RSV gets called out on one of these trips, they now a BH called in sick for it. It feels good to keep people on their toes. Hopefully, we won't get the abuse this year.
