What's new

Gee Whiz! What Happened?

What rate of overtime did your group give up in the last concession Kev?
I'm betting $25 per day doesn't begin to equal the rate you would have made on overtime for the holiday. Yet the planes are full and the company is in the black..as reported lately in the business news.
Add this generous incentive with the news that nwa is now preparing a "bonus" for all employees not yet under a bonus program and you will all be swimming in cash before long.
Sorry for the sarcasm but it just seems like a complete load of crap designed to keep the "new" employees of nwa saying how great the company is and to keep the rest of you in line.

$25 dollars per day for everyday worked between 20.Dec.06-07.Jan.07. X-mas and New Years day are $50.00. It's all or nothing-you have to have perfect attendence to get any of the dough....

Don't feel bad, though; NWA has sh*t on it's employees for years, and the operation reflected it here as well.

Fortunately, NWA can now terminate those that call in sick on a holiday without a doctors note, so justice will prevail.

Ahhh Finny .. its comments such as yours that make me realize how blessed I was to have NOT returned to NWA on that last F/A recall. You've once again given me another confirmation that it was the right choice . Spreading "Christmas Cheer" finman.. what a guy .. In fact you're beginning to bring a true Christmas classic to mind ...Mr SCROOGE!! God help all NWA employee's that have to deal with bozo's such as he .... Bldg A finny I presume ...

Jen ..

Well said Jen!

Wow, that's deep. It's so deep it's downright stupid.

Prevail "THIS" !!!!!!

Only an IDIOT would call out on a holiday, without a doc's note.(especially when NW pays 70/80% for the doc's visit)

(What a F/C $hithead you are)

NH/BB's

What rate of overtime did your group give up in the last concession Kev?

Double-time-and-a-half. All the holidays still left are paid at 2.0x....

I'm betting $25 per day doesn't begin to equal the rate you would have made on overtime for the holiday.

Not even close....My old "all in" rate on Christmas would have been $55.60. Even with the holiday bonus, it's now $45.01

Right again. It seemed almost universal, that the brand new folks were starry-eyed about the $$$, while the 'tweens and senior people were much much more cynical.

Personally I hope someone buys that rat hole of an airline and breaks it into little pieces and throws the Cohenista's out on their collective arses.
I don't see where that will hurt anyone but the employees, Mr Cohen and others will just go elsewhere and do the same thing.

Not if they're covered under either the ESSC or COPFS contracts....

Obviously Finman does not know what he is talking about.
All agreements with iam, alpa, flight attendants all
have attendance guidelines in place. If you are within
guidelines then call out on a holiday it does not
change anything. If someone has 2 sick days in 6 months
and calls out on Xmas then the most NW can do is "ask
for a sick note from the doctor." And what doctor will
be working on Xmas day. I guess another sick day may
have to be used to go to the doctor on the 26th.

I hope all my former colleagues at NW had a good holiday
season. All that is but the scabs who crossed.

And what are the consequences of not coming up with a doctor's note verifying that person's inability to work on the day in question? I don't think I ever said a person has to go to the doctor on the day they were supposed to work (I.E., Christmas), so where am I mistaken? I simply said that if a person calls in sick without a doctor's note (which the person obviously has a set number of days to provide), then termination will be forthcoming. When speaking about crewmembers, it doesn't really matter if they have to take the 26th off to go to the Dr., because they are already useless (getting paid sick time) for the whole trip that they called in sick for.

Is it just me or has anyone else notice that old finny seems a little crotchety these days?

Give it a break finny you almost sound like your drinking a little too much kool-aid these days....stick to the egg nog it has a better effect. 😉

THAT'S what I'm saying. Why do I have to explain it to him when he states he was part of the process. I'm starting to wonder if its some zit faced blunder boy with an MBA internship.

Sounds a little draconian to me. I hope you don't get sick finman. By the way, do you get paid for your sick time there in bldg A?

My mistake, you have never been sick, you are a highly trained NWA bldg A clone.

I'm not in front-line operations and don't work on holidays, so obviously none of this would apply to me. Yes, we do get paid 75% for being sick.

is getting a doctors note something hard to do? When i was sick ( cough cough ) while an employee of NW leading up to the strike my manager often requested a doctors note. I called my doctor and told them i was ill and needed an excuse for work and they told me to come on in and pick it up that it would be waiting at the front desk. I know it sure infuriated my mr tempera in ord but with that little doctors note i was intouchable.

Rumor has it that in the Memphis area NW had called all the doctors to tell them to report any "suspicious" sick employees. Sounds like a rumor (a really retarded one) but is it really true? .
