I'll bet that the retired employees that spent most of their working lives at US, UA, NW, etc. would be more than willing to trade premiums with you; as well as those retirees of EA, PA, and Braniff who got ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. You have it far far better than they do and you never worked one second at AA. $220 per month for a retired couple isn't bad at all. Perhaps you should shop around on the outside for coverage (hope you qualify with your disability).Got my statement from ceridian and the premium was increased 20.00 for each person. I looked over my records for the past year and I paid in 2160.00 and AA paid out 346.79 for me. AA made a profit of 1813.79 off me for 2006. I think it is time to drop them and the rest of you should look at this also. As far as I am concerned, it is just another screwing we retirees got from Don and Bill so that Bill could enjoy his millions that he got as a kickback. I do not intend to offend any of you pilots on this, but it really does upset me the way all this has turned out.
The fact is that AA agreed to pay twa retiree benefits in the amount twa had on it's books; even the twa retirees' own attorney stated this and recommeded the suit be dropped, which it was. AA is not going to pay any more than the amount agreed to. Hypothetically, if I agreed to sell you my house for a certain amount and then 6 months after closing the price of the house appreciates say $20,000, would I have a right to come back to you and demand that $20,000?
If it makes you feel any better, medical has gone up again for AA employees as well as my life insurance but my prefunding remained unchanged.
