What's new

Good Ole American Airlines

Got my statement from ceridian and the premium was increased 20.00 for each person. I looked over my records for the past year and I paid in 2160.00 and AA paid out 346.79 for me. AA made a profit of 1813.79 off me for 2006. I think it is time to drop them and the rest of you should look at this also. As far as I am concerned, it is just another screwing we retirees got from Don and Bill so that Bill could enjoy his millions that he got as a kickback. I do not intend to offend any of you pilots on this, but it really does upset me the way all this has turned out.
I'll bet that the retired employees that spent most of their working lives at US, UA, NW, etc. would be more than willing to trade premiums with you; as well as those retirees of EA, PA, and Braniff who got ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. You have it far far better than they do and you never worked one second at AA. $220 per month for a retired couple isn't bad at all. Perhaps you should shop around on the outside for coverage (hope you qualify with your disability).

The fact is that AA agreed to pay twa retiree benefits in the amount twa had on it's books; even the twa retirees' own attorney stated this and recommeded the suit be dropped, which it was. AA is not going to pay any more than the amount agreed to. Hypothetically, if I agreed to sell you my house for a certain amount and then 6 months after closing the price of the house appreciates say $20,000, would I have a right to come back to you and demand that $20,000?

If it makes you feel any better, medical has gone up again for AA employees as well as my life insurance but my prefunding remained unchanged.

Hey LAWYER,
You can go straight to H E L L

I am just left in awe by your eloquence.

Got a lawyer from the Bay area that could not make it on his own without having his wife work as a F/A. You have a lot of room to talk. I once thought you were a nice guy, but your true colors are coming out.

Well, you must not be able to refute a word of what I wrote thus you feel compelled to resort to a personal attack. Next time, at least try to get the facts right.

One fact is straight. you are not a very good lawyer. Maybe a gopher. I feel sorry for the way the TWA f/a's were treated, but in case your wife is married to you, I guess you both deserve what you got.

You better get over your bitterness before it kills you. I just found these pearls of wisdom of yours on another aviation board:

Thanks Paul.

Being disabled before 65, I am using the Medicare drug program and am fairly pleased with it. I do not turn anything into UHC. Maybe I should. Thinking about dropping UHC altogether as I can not see where I realize anything from them except 12 canceled $180.00 checks per year.

Have a happy turkey day

Amen...Another 'great' deal from AA along with their pass policy! Were we sold down the river by our boy Bill, you bet!

I wonder what Bill's classification is?????????

What is your POINT LAWYERBOY?
Bill sold all of us down the river, along with Carty. At least I have passes if I want to use them, WHATY DO YOU HAVE? hahahahaha
Now you can got straight to where I told you to go earlier. I have no use for someone like you.
Too bad you are not disabled at a young age and see how hard it can be to make it. But then again, you are probably one of those born with a silver spoon and will never know what it is like.

You finally got it.

Those who retired from TWA before the buyout are better off than the majority of the TWA employees who were "lucky" enough to be employed by AA for a brief period before being furloughed without the benefits of passes and health insurance for which you seem to be so ungrateful.

You need to put things in perspective. Count your blessings, enjoy what you have and quit complaining.

I do not and will not use the passes. I dont need or want them. As far as I am concerned, the airlines could all do away with them for everyone. Would solve alot of headaches for everyone.
It does not look like you have a dog in this hunt anymore.

Sheesh. All you need to do is click on "decline" when you sign in to Jetnet and your passes will disappear on Jan 01, giving you one less thing to whine about.

twaokc, I truly pity you, and hope I never end up as perpetually bitter as you.

TWA as a company was dead the moment they agreed to Karibu and re-fleeting at loan-shark lease rates. Few people thought their business plan made sense, aside from the brain-washed masses at TWA who had no choice but to believe it or face the reality that their days were numbered.

You blame Carty and Compton, yet they only presided over TWA's funeral.

twaokc:

I'm still trying to figure out what exactly you are complaining about.

In your original post you stated that you paid $2160 in premiums and that $346 was paid out. That means you paid $180 dollars a month. When the payout is factored in it goes down to $151 a month. Like others have told you there are lot of people who would kill to pay what you do for health insurance. People who worked for airlines like Pan Am, Eastern, Braniff etc. I'm preety sure if you complained to them about what you pay they would laugh at you.

You've stated that origianlly you're premiums were to be paid in full. I take it this is what you are so upset about. Quite frankly I have a hard time believing that something like fully paid retiree medical would have survived the two previous trips thrugh BK court. Now lets say they did survive those two previous trips. Do you honestly think you would have recieved them given the financial condition of TWA? If you do the only person you are fooling is yourself.

It does not look like you have a dog in this hunt anymore.
Wouldn't you like to know? It has nothing to do with this discussion and is none of your business.

The point is simply that you suffered considerably less harm, limited to insurance premiums and lower boarding priority, in the aftermath of this failed acquisition compared to the vast majority of the TWA employees who were still employed at the time of the buy out. Many of the TWAers would be thrilled to have the benefit package which you so despise that you are receiving from a company for which you did not work a day in your life.

By the way, you should remove your personal identifying information including your name and date of birth from your public profile on Smilin' Jack.

WHY?????????????

I do not hide from anything like you do. I have strong feeling on this and you, a hapless little lawyer, will not change my mind. Bill and Don should be in jail over what they have done to all of the TWA employees and retirees. And you still do not have a dog in this hunt. Your wifes recall rights are about ready to expire, so that means you are done. Get over it boy, you're done. BYE, hahahahahahahahhahaha

99 percent of the TWA F/A's are great people. It is such a shame that you have put your wife in that 1 percent. Think about it boy, she has a dog in this hunt, but you have nothing.

There we go again. You are unable to articulate an intelligent and logical response so you resort to personal attacks and baseless and inaccurate speculations.

How do you know that she is not old enough to be able to retire from furlough with full benefits before her recall rights expire? May be she has already done so. It is really none of your bloody business. It is those who were furloughed before their fiftieth birthdays who really got the screw job.

Get over your self-pity and stop feeling so sorry for yourself. It is getting to be nauseating.

Lawyerboy, you are just what I was told you was.
