Grass Roots drive for TWU to replace AMFA begins.

Congrats to Brett and AMFA National for another airline Mechanics group going with the Class and Craft union of the industry to represent them.
AMFA keeps growing...

AMFA WELCOMES SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES TECHNICIAN AND RELATED EMPLOYEES
CENTENNIAL, CO
– June 9, 2022 – The National Mediation Board (NMB) officially announced today that the Aircraft Maintenance Mechanics and Related (M&R) employees voted overwhelmingly to elect the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) as their collective bargaining agent.
Earlier this winter, M&R at Sun Country Airlines submitted signed authorization for representation cards from nearly 75% of its workgroup to AMFA, requesting that they file for a representation election with the NMB on behalf of their workgroup.
“We are extremely humbled and excited that these talented professionals appreciate AMFA’s commitment to raising the standards of our invaluable craft,” said Bret Oestreich, AMFA National President. “We are honored to be given this opportunity to be the first and only craft-specific union to represent this skilled workgroup. The grassroots organizing committee started this union campaign, and today’s outcome was the culmination and affirmation of their hard work.”
Prior to today’s announcement, Sun Country Airlines technicians had been non-union since the flight operations started in 1983. “Today’s vote is another example of the resurgence of craft-specific unions,” said Oestreich. “The future belongs to craft unions because they are designed to be stakeholders that defend their members’ interests at the bargaining table, not profit from them.”
Sun Country Airlines is classified as a new breed hybrid low-cost air carrier, cargo, and charter business headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. The company operates 43 passenger and 12 freighter aircraft with more than 1,600 employees.
“One of AMFA’s objectives is to elevate the standards and increase recognition of Aircraft Technicians. With that in mind, AMFA’s leaders are excited to work with our newest bargaining unit,” said Oestreich.
The AMFA Sun Country Transition Committee will be meeting with our new members and Sun Country leadership soon to discuss the most pressing matters and outline how the parties intend to move forward.”

AMFA PREVAILS yet again! Sun Country Mechanics chose AMFA to represent their best interest within their Class and Craft. Spirit should be next with JetBlue following soon.
I tip my hat to all the organizers and AMFA National for getting this done.

NATIONAL PRESIDENT'S LETTER WELCOMING SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES TECHNICIAN AND RELATED PROFESSIONALS
Updated On: Jun 08, 2022

Welcome Sun Country Airlines Technician and Related Professionals:
You should be extremely proud of your accomplishments thus far in becoming unionized. You all have been through a lot these last years, and we look forward to helping you control your own destiny and fix the many problems you have expressed. AMFA is honored to represent you at Sun Country Airlines (SCA). Following is a quick synopsis of what to expect next.
AMFA National and Local 4 (MDW) officers and representatives will assist the SCA membership as we negotiate your first Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). In addition to an AMFA-SCA Airline Representative (ALR), your Negotiating Committee will consist of National officers, legal counsel, an economist, a pension actuary, and a health and welfare actuary, when needed. Most of the cost for professionals for negotiations will be paid with AMFA National funds until your CBA is ratified, at which time AMFA Local 4 will resume jurisdiction.
Currently, you have a SCA volunteer transition team in place, including an Interim SCA ALR who is the main point of contact for your group. The SCA ALR oversees the enforcement of your status quo work rules, pay, and benefits, and is a voting member of your Negotiating Committee. There is also an Interim Area Representative who assists the ALR on the floor as well as an Interim Shop Representatives who administer communications. In the coming months, Local 4 will call for nominations and conduction an election to fill these positions in accordance with the AMFA Constitution, Local Bylaws, and LMRDA. If you are an active member in good standing in this first election, you will be qualified to be nominated to run for these offices.
In the next few weeks, you will be receiving a New Member package containing an Application for Membership and a Dues Check-off Form, which will permit you to be a member in good standing, attend union meetings, vote on contract and letter of agreement ratification, and vote for Local and National officers and representatives. Until a CBA is ratified between AMFA and SCA, your AMFA Initiation Fee will be waved when you pay voluntary membership dues. Your dues will be used to support and pay for your SCA elected local representatives on the property and resources used at the negotiation table. Fifty percent of the dues collected will stay at your Local to pay for Local business expenses, including building rental, general membership meetings, office supplies, legal practices, grievance filings, union membership training, and arbitration and termination cases.
We thank you for your support. Be sure to call on us if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Bret Oestreich
National President

Wow 131 whole members. But I will give AMFA credit where credit is due for finally organizing the unorganized and not trying to raid other already organized groups.

Now if AMFA doesn’t completely and totally destroy these people during their negotiations that will be an absolute miracle.

A reminder of how truly horrible a Union AMFA is. Keep those cards coming in and you can finally rid yourselves of the AMFA travesty.

Just to recap;
There is NO current card drive at SWA to get their Mechanics to sign twu cards. Nor will any Mechanics do so. The only web page on the twu airline divisions under organizing is all the made up BS as they continue to fight off the huge AMFA card drive at AA. Check out the web pages for yourself:

Go to twu's airline division web page, select or glide over "organizing campaigns" when all options drop down notice the final link titled "Taking on AMFA" click on it and you will see for yourselves it is simply a link to fighting the current AMFA card drive at AA NOT anything in the world to do with a made up card drive of cards being signed at SWA for their Mechanics wanting the twu.
Don't get me wrong, they did try, for the third time, and failed in a matter of a couple days. They were successful in handing out info to our supervisors, managers and even one of our directors. But, just as the last two times they were sent packing very quickly.

If you got to AMFA's National web page and click on Organizing you will see a list of 4 airlines; American, JetBlue, Spirit and Sun Country. And if you click on Represented Airlines you will see where Sun Country was just added as the newest represented carrier as well as Southwest, Alaska, Horizon and of course Sun Country.

Don't fall for the false actuations that the twu is doing a card drive at SWA for representing their Mechanics, they tried and failed so quickly as they always have.

And soon, we should be hearing the NMB announcement for a representational election to bring AMFA in @ Spirit, JetBlue and eventually American Mechanics. Stay tuned in folks, gets better and better... :)

Again NOTHING on the twu's airline division web pages about any card drive at SWA.
Do your own homework instead of believing anything this pathetic asso tells it's members.

If there is no card drive then why did AMFA themselves say there is?

FYI the TWU showed that they absolutely will accept SWA M&R into the fold and now are letting the grass roots take over.

Don’t worry swamp I can promise you’ll be very happy being in the TWU along with the 30,000 others at your Airline.

Just to make people aware. The TWU on their organizing page doesn’t specify that they are trying to personally organize any group of workers. They didn’t add anything about JetBlue Flight Attendant during the drive but at the end of the day they did organize that group successfully.

If you want more information this is the link for that purpose.

More Jobs Than Scamfa, More Work Than Scamfa, More Money Than Scamfa, More Clout Than Scamfa, More Scope Than Scamfa, More Protections Than Scamfa and not unhappy with TWU or IAM as you want people to think.

“The TWU is the union who fought and won, bringing back offshored American Airline aircraft maintenance work back into the U.S. Every airline in the country should be living up to the same standards for maintenance and this bill will finally make that ideal a reality. This Global Aircraft Maintenance Safety Improvement Act will help ensure that all U.S. aircraft maintenance work, no matter where it’s preformed, is held our safety and security standards,” said TWU International President John Samuelsen.
“The FAA should never have allowed these loopholes to open in the first place. Each of these gaps incentivizes airlines to offshore maintenance into countries with lower safety standards, putting lives at risk,” he continued. “The overwhelming, bipartisan vote in the committee demonstrates the widespread support we have for returning airline mechanic jobs to US soil. The Transport Workers Union is now calling on Congress to pass this bill immediately to ensure one level of safety and security in our airspace.”
