Great Pics  Nice to see something to smile about at work these days. That had to be a good day for a surprise baby shower  Best wishes for the Lady Bunny.

They all looked so happy until they were behind the counter.

We need more pics of Phocohotass!

Sooooooooooooooooooo unprofessional. So much for the "World Class Global Carrier of Choice" ethic of the late 1990s.

Where have you been for the past 2 years? We arent even close to the "old days" any more. Its so much easier to just give in instead of trying to fight it and I find that it makes my life so much easier at work not worrying about what used to be. It is what it is. If Tempe wants to go back to "the old days" and demands accountability and professionalism, then they need to have it start in Tempe. Thats one reason why I think "Business Casual" is such a big deal. No one in Tempe wants to play grown up/dress up.

I know, I know. I accept it for what it is, but still am sad for what it could be, too. I don't think airlines of class (UAL, CAL) permit employees to show up dressed up for Halloween. Neither do most offices, for that matter.

. . . I don't think airlines of class (UAL, CAL) permit employees to show up dressed up for Halloween. . . .

Aw . . . come on, smell the coffee CTM. I wouldn't want the FA's dressed in Halloween garb ( though the WN FAs do on occassion look like they're trick or treating year round). But dressing up the counter folks might actually make a pax smile for a minute and forget what Tempe is doing to this airline. Remember, these frontliners already have a crappy job dealing face-to-face with disgruntled pax when things go awry with US -- which now-a-days is a daily occurance. They've earned a day to do their thing as a group.

And let's be honest. All of the majors are playing trick or treat with their pax every day now with crammed cabins, poor seat pitch, no meals, and higher prices for this downgraded service. Tempe has simply figured out a business model which really sticks that broomstick up a pax's arse.

I was looking in the photos to see if anyone dressed up like Dougie. There's something to ponder. Just how would one dress for Halloween if they wanted to go as Dougie? I can thnk of a few possibilities.

I have just added this yearly tradition to my list of things to be embarrassed about when I come to work.

coming from "Expressland", before the merger we (Piedmont/PSA) stations were allowed to do a limited amount of public celebrations. for instance, for Halloween (prior to the merger) we would hang lil ghoules & goblins from the ceiling, have bowls of candy out, and maybe wear something small & cute (such as bunny ears). I know at Christmas we put up lights around our counter and had a christmas tree (and even a menorah). Easter & Valentines day we'd also put up a few decorations. I don't recall allowing employees to ever dress up in a costume. I think the worst I did was wear reindeer antlers for xmas and wear beads during fantasy fest (although another supervisor dressed up in drag for that).

USAirways Group allowed this as long as other airlines were also doing it at other airports, but we were not allowed to start it. The standards folks felt we'd stand out as a sore thumb if we were the only ones NOT decorated.

Tampa, to my memory, was always a very cool & professional. When we (in my station) had operational issues, TPA was always very accomodating in letting us use up their OB authorizations (heh).

Tad, did you guys do anything festive in the Club??
