What's new

HERE COMES THE LAYOFFS

Anyone that actually works or contacts the public will be so demoralized I just don't see any inspiration. If it wasn't so sad it would be humorous!

You would think they would have learned from the 03' experience that an unmotivated workforce will not yield the results they are hoping for. Sure, they can crack the whip, but 20 unhappy workers cannot match the productivity of 10 motivated achievers. 🙁

someone had a moniker on here i forget who but it fits aa to a tee:

aa they know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.........

now the new one will be:

we are not happy till you not happy!

just another day at aa hate and discontent is rampant business as usual.. they hate us and we are discontented

we should merge with usair could you imagine east/west/aa/twa holy cr#p batman what an abortion that would be !sheesh you think there is hate and discontent now?

I don't see aa emerging as a stand alone airline. Anyone that actually works or contacts the public will be so demoralized I just don't see any inspiration. If it wasn't so sad it would be humorous!

Definitely some truth to this.
Like I said, only way to change the course is to get a new capt and crew. If AA rams that "wish list" down the throats of M & R, no amount of rule/policy chgs & enforcement will right the course. Stick a fork in AA.
You keep cracking the whip on that horses a$$ and he'll kick you into next week.

We are all getting a horrible "wish list" shoved down our throat!

Unfortunately for me i work as an amt general in one of the 767 hc lines at afw and know that i'll be gone in the first wave of layoffs . After 22 years of service for AA ( 12 years Title V and last 10 years as an amt ) this is just an insult to myself and a lot of my fellow brothers and sisters throughout the system . For those of us that will become victims of corporate greed and wreckless actions by the centerpork fat pockets club ; BE STRONG . GOD BLESS .
As far as the employess that will weather the storm and remain employed by AA , i wish you the best of luck and hope for unity in the ranks . GOD BLESS

My apologies rolis2559. You are correct, for those who are actually losing their jobs because of inept management among other things, you do have it worse, especially in the short term. God Bless you guys/gals and hopefully this in some strange way is a blessing in disguise for you.
Good Luck!!

I have sinking suspicion that you may still be able to work at AFW. There are only so many 777 docks in the world. I bet American is going to sub lease the hangar to a third party that pays less. This is what United Airlines did in Indy.

UA leased the hangars in IND from the airport, they voided the lease in Chapter 11 and have not leased it out to anyone, the Airport owns it.

That may be true, but doesn't aar do maintenance there on ua planes?

Ole 700 justs likes to catch meaningless mistakes by others so he can show off his self-proclaimed expertise. The end result is the same - UA doesn't use the hanger for doing it's own maintenance with it's own mechanics. That's what is important. Whether subleased by UA or leased by the airport after UA rejected the lease doesn't change that.

Didn't the 777 just come back to AFW from being worked at Tulsa? They have the docks, the schedule was an issue which is why it came back to AFW, but I don't think anyone in management cares about quality, on-time maintenance at this point.

I suspect that the 777s will be overhauled in HKG or PEK or PVG or SIN or ICN or somewhere else in Asia. If need be, someone will build an additional hangar. How many AA 777s are overhauled at the same time? Unless the MROs increase their wages, I don't think they will be able to attract enough AMTs to take over all of the vacated space. As Bob Owens has posted, the FAA is issuing very few A&P tickets and hard-working mechanics can generally earn more money fixing something other than airplanes at almost any employer other than airlines.
