Usairways is currently buying new bag carts.Thats a good thing, here is were the dumb part comes in.Usairways express is also getting new carts.

The new bag carts come from the factory snow white. The old bag carts are gray and according to the mgnt must be painted white.Thats mainlines new bag cart color.Express uses gray carts.

Here is the company solution, grind down all the old gray bag carts and paint them white for mainline.
While at the same time Express paints there new white carts gray. now whats wrong with this picture.

Don't worry. You should be getting some more from PIT shortly. They're already painted, too......EXPRESS has WHITE and MAINLINE has GREY.

Just from a ramp safety standpoint, isn't gray a silly color for GSE? Not saying it should be day-glo orange, just something a little less stealthy.

Good question. For that matter, using a gloss white paint on a vehicle that is often in bright sunlight creates quite a glare that is difficult to ignore even with sunglasses. It seems obvious that a flat paint or a different color (or both) reduces the chance of having an accident while driving on the ramp.

Reflectors and reflective tape, when properly maintained, solves most of the stealth issues when dealing with nightime/poor weather operations, IMO.

Good god!! What a waste of time and money!!
Agree'd and its really just a matter of changing the sticker on the cart, and the cart number, all carts have numbers. Also to record who has the cart mainline or express.
Its always been the question in our minds, who owns who,as far as equipt goes.Do they buy there own or do we mainline buy it.
The old carts need to be replaced thats for sure, and to extend the life of the cart does make since, lots of it.The funny thing is,the cart that are being painted white, the old ones that are gray now started out as white. They got grayed during the S.Wolf era.
But the bottom line is why buy 2 colors of paint and spend all the time spent by both parties when the solution is obvious.Paint the gray cart gray again and change the sticker...lol

I thought we were to keep labor cost down, this is not a decision from local mgmt its above them its a PIT thing, for sure.Thats were GSE meca is.Farther west would be a better place for it.Seems like they are the hold outs that didnt have to move.

As far as safety, the PRINCE is right, but they are getting a semi gloss white not too bad looking really, thats not the point.Gray has not proven to repel damage yet.White wont but it looks nicer.any way this is just a story of redundancy that may interest people.

Just make Woody in CLT CEO----he knows what customer service is and can fix stuff.

For heaven's sake!!! Slap a USAirways decal on the bloody thing and move on.
White and gray are a part of our livery colors

Low Cost Carrier my foot! They are looking for reasons to waste money.

They probably have a deal with some paint shop that costs them nothing as long as they give them publicity in US Airways magazine or advertise the company on the tray tables.
