In somewhat related news there was a Christian school in CA (I believe) that put together a menu for Black History Month.  The menu consisted of fried chicken, collard greens and watermelon.  Needless to say a few people (OK a lot of people) were a bit pissed off and the school administration apologized.  What level of intelligence is required to come up with an idea that having a menu of stereotypical 'black food' would be a good idea?
 
I am sure there are examples of this level of ignorance on all sides of the political spectrum but it seem that conservatives are far more prone to this level of ignorance.  They are the ones who contend that women have magical vagina's and talk about legitimate rape.

We have big time ethnic events here in Pittsburgh which feature favorite foods from our long time cultural identity as the " Gateway to the West " which, in fact feature those foods you mention, for one,  which are enjoyed by all flavors of locals.
Don't recall anyone spouting off about ignorance or conservatives at all. Pittsburgh is a long time Democrat machine.......majority of ethnic Democrats......eating across the racial divide.
