My understanding is that Robert Roach was very professional and welcomed the New Direction leaders with respect and pledged support.

At any rate, Canale won't be involved in any capacity with 141 after October.

BTW Roabilly, I like 'A'. And who mentioned fishing?

Straightin’ um out !

I see tha “O-Manâ€￾ lurkin’ …maybe he’ll give us some support on this…

I agree. I heard everyone at the International was making big time bets that Randy would not have the intestinal fortitude to show up.

Huguenot Park, just down Heckscher Dr., is an awesome beach to fish. You can surf fish, or drive around the corner and fish towards the intercoastal waterway. Last I was there you could drive your car on the beach right up to where you want to get out and fish or "check out" the wild life.

Correct me if I'm wrong but his capacity on the Law Committee is limited to the Grand Lodge Convention. He is probably so outspoken about the dues increase because he is already fired. I heard he was taking a seminar at Whimpycenter last week. R.E and K.A. were brushing him up on his skills to bl*w for a better job. ORD ramp sent him some knee pads to make it easier!

thinking R.E and K.A might need to take there own refresher course on that subject.. They seem to be lacking now that there sugar daddy

is gone.

Greetings all from the long lost BF. To tell the truth I'm
still reeling from the passage of the TA. I go thru my
head what could have been done differently. But if
I didn't have any power to bloke it from passing then,
I sure don't have any power to change it now so OK
I'm over it.

On to bigger and better things. For instance, Is it too
early to start thinking about 2010 141 elections? I got
one person on the "needs to go list". How bout a
slate called the "New Direction Team 2010"?

As far as the direction to take from here I'd like to begin
with a new emphasis on strength of the membership through
readiness and willingness to enter section six. I say
begin the preparations now. Eductate the membership as
to to supreme importance of this tool. Also start setting
the stage as to what we think is a fair contract. But whatever
the details are make sure we head into negotiations with a
firm committment.

I'm a 98% possibility of showing up to the "Oct Overthrow".(and that's
about as much as I commit to anything). Getting into the conv.
is no big deal but if possible that would be cool. I'm bringing
my surfboard and my golf clubs. Take care all. BF

OT: IAM won over 500 jobs back at Alaska. Alaska illegally contracted out the rampers in SEA a couple years back. The arbitrator ruled for the IAM in this case. Main reason for a union is fairness/justice and it starts with a real grievance procedure. Employees at will don't have this.

Don't get too excited. They won on a technicality. The Alaska Airlines CBA required that a subcontractor be less expensive than the fleet service in order to permit Management to eliminate fleet service workers. (Whoever in the IAM agreed to this language in the CBA should have been tarred and feathered and shipped back to Chicago on a FedEx pallet.)

Figuring departmental costs within any large corporation can be easily manipulated through the allocation or exclusion of overhead and other related expenses. I am not sure what is the appeal process for Alaska Airlines management, but that clause is still in effect and it is a matter of moving the cost structure around into order to make in-house fleet service appear more expensive than using contractors.

I doubt IAM fleet service employee averaging 10 years on the job will be cheaper than a new hire subcontractor, even with a profit margin included. Allocate millions of dollars in overhead (HQ Administration, corporate debt, ramp management, equipment depreciation, repairs, etc.) and there is no possible way Alaska fleet service would be cheaper than a subcontractor. I suspect the ruling had more of a problem with the math rather than some more lofty objective causing the clause to be eliminated.

Unfortunately, I think this will be a short-lived victory.

So Calculates Jester.

Hey Perv or Goodfellow,

Tell Bobby B. that he can pick the one he wants. Frankie O. knows what I am talking about.

I think it's a bit too early. Everyone going in should start fresh. Even anyone that won their seat back needs a fresh start. The only ones that should be considered to go at this time are those who weren't up for election. Even then, with RC gone things are going to change a lot. Give the whole smash a chance. See what they do with the opportunity. If in a year they start to blow it then yeah, time to find replacements.

As far as the direction to take from here I'd like to begin

With new leadership, now is not the time. The new crew will need a few months to get into the swing of things and clean up some messes. Once things are under control then YES! I actually typed up four pages worth of contract change suggestions to the TWU commitee in 2004. It's never too early to start yourself, nor is it ever too early to get a group together. It IS, however, too early for the DL to start on it. I'd also like to point out that one should give a contract some time first. There are certianly some things that need changing, adn those are glaring issues that don't need pointing out. The smaller things do, but see how the contract works first. Once we're fully on the East agreement (I remember that you're West) you can see how their contract works and what needs to be changed. Once things settle in it should be full speed ahead. We need to try for a new contract BEFORE you (and something like 1800 other employees) get the axe come 2012.

Hey Rat. First let me say CONGRADS to all you guys for getting the dead weight out of office and putting people in that WILL REPRESENT THE MEMBERS. Again CONGRADS. Now on to a little fishing action. Nassau Sound is pretty good salt water action. You might see some 100 pound tarpon at that time of year. You will see some pretty good flounder and whiting there also. Freshwater, I like Lofton Creek but be very careful. Full of gators and snakes. If you want some shark action, go over on the beach most anywhere on the south end of Amelia Island and use some type of bloody bait. Another good place is Fort Clinch Pier on the north end of the island. If you cant find bait you can use RC but they will most likely turn their nose up at him. Dam I wish I could have gotten some representation, I would still be there running with you boys. God bless all and stay united.

I have been advised the ND08 website has been updated to keep you informed on developments leading up to the October administration change. Click link below

Thanks

A reminder that the Grand Lodge convention is coming up in Sep.

that is the convention where they will discuss RAISING your DUES.

If you don't want that to happen . You need to contact your elected delegates who are going there

to REPRESENT YOU and let them know how you feel. If you don't speak up then they won't listen..
