IAM/US Mechanic and Related Update

BDL maintenance will be closing MAR 03. Anybody else closing or reducing?
Line maintenance stations will include at a minimum
33 BOS, CLT, DCA, LGA, PHL, PHX, LAS, LAX and at least seven
34 (7) other stations as determined by the Company.

US has determined that line maintenance is no longer needed at BDL. It's closing March the 3rd. That's a fact. Rumor is PIT is losing head count, maybe 30 mech's, any truth to that? Or if anyone know's of any mechanic movement please, do tell.

They probably were getting the job done with no delays, so the Co.determined that they were not needed.

Those BDL guys were a great bunch of experienced guys, and dripping with seniority. I'd guess BOS is were they would go, unless some retired.

Rumor............ is............. PIT most likely losing 737/e190 check done in Line Hanger 3/4. And Heavy is 9 people short and only going to be replaced through attrition.

30 guys? I didn't hear that one, unless it's the newest in the rumor mill.

I did hear from my Mx manager yesterday that there would be a headcount reduction in PIT very soon. His Words: PIT Mx- One of the lowest productivity bases with the highest amount of O.T. in the system.

Where would the 737/e190 heavy check be done if not PIT?

EMB in Nashvile seems to have started the 190's. As for the protected headcount, we wll see what happens!!!

Protected headcount of what... 675? That doesn't mean they can't move all of those heads elsewhere. Just that heavy has that many protected. I hope the best for all of the guys there

BDL closing will put 4 lead mech's, 12 mech's, and 1 stock clerk into the abolishment mode.

That sucks. Moving or commuting both are a pain.
Boston seems close. Driveable with a crash pad.
How many more stations are going to be closed before the merger?

Did you not read the contract language?

US may, if they choose, close any three of the following line maintenance stations ATL DFW FLL MCO ORD PIT? SAN SEA SFO or TPA.

Sadly, yes they can. I think it's 15 minimum. And out of those you listed, my guess and only my guess, would be SAN,SEA,ATL or SFO. Out of those, I think SEA and SAN have only 3 RON aircraft, the same number as BDL.

Out of the 675 protected headcount for Heavy in CLT and PIT, the contract states "combined". So the way I read it is, 1 in PIT and 674 in CLT, or any combination of the above.

It's been so quiet for so long, I knew it couldn't last.
