July - US Pilots Labor Discussion

Negotiating Committee - neutered.

This was started in a motion in today's meeting by a west Rep and seconded by DCA Rep Joe Stein. Two PHL Reps and the CLT Reps walked out of the meeting because this was done against the rules.

Why was this done? Let me explain. Gary Hummel has been in secret negotiations with Parker, Kirby and the APA. He has not told the negotiating committee nor the BPR and in fact, no one know what he is negotiating.

I was told that the Kirby came to Hummel and said, "Get rid of DiOrio." Can you imagine if we told the company to, "Get rid of Jerry Glass" what the company would tell us?

In fact, why didn't we tell the company that if you want us to remove DiOrio, you remove Glass? That would be negotiating. Instead, we are just doing what we are told. Why did they want DiOrio out of there? Because he is taking a tough stance to make sure we don't bear the brunt of this merger - that we don't once again pay for our own demise! Kirby is now running USAPA!

The next point. Why is Hummel negotiating behind our backs? Show me where that is in our By-laws or Constitution. The BPR now knows this is occurring, but because the west and DCA votes as a block with Jamie Weidner rubber stamping everything he is told to rubber stamp, we have a situation where our President is knowingly disregards the rules and no one will stop him. So much for the argument that Steve Bradford would never allow USAPA to degenerate into another ALPA.

You all need to make some noise. You need to contact your reps and our officers. We are being sold down the river. The scope clause will gut this airline and it will be the US Airways pilots that will take the hit. No wonder the APA is so excited. They get a pay raise and we get 190's. They understand it. Hummel is working it and no one is willing to stop it.

This is important and it's your future. It's not just about the money. That was dangled in front of us to distract us from the real issues. We will never see those pay rates because we won't be flying those planes.

This is a complete lie.

Nice spin.

Gary Hummel is negotiating directly with management and the APA to rush us to a MOU term sheet by August 8, 2010. He just fired Paul Diorio and inserted John Owens (who has no contract knowledge or negotiating experience) on the NAC. The previous pass was not sent to the NAC for over 48 hours but went from Scott Kirby to Gary to Dave Ciabattonni, John Owens, and Brian O' Dwyer with specific intstructions from the President NOT to forward to the NAC. This is clearly a violation of the Constitution and Bylaws and UOM and Gary is now empowered to do whatever he wants by a 6-5 majority that is clueless....

WE are about to be handed a Gary Hummel deal without correct input or oversight and your NAC is now unchaired. Dean Collello is contemplating resigning and that leaves Owens....a dangerous interjection due to his lack of knowledge and experience...2 west members Ken Holmes who is smart and capable, Rocky Calavari who is also smart and appears to be a good guy......... We are about to get dealt a cram down MOU that gives away your scope provisions with minimum and all this was done against legal advice and input.......

BOHICA boys............RECALL GARY "GIVE AWAY" HUMMEL NOW!!!! Transparency yea right.

DiOrio gone???

That's the BEST news I've heard in DAYS!!! At least something is happening. The company could just stonewall us and hand us the AA Green Book when they are ready.

Pi, I'm not sure you fully understand how things are working right now.

You know 9, I may not, but here is what I do understand. For as long as I can remember when something didn't go the way of the Cleary, Mowry, McKee bunch it was the ultimate major catastrophe. "The C18 are going to ruin the union!", "This identity theft puts us all at major risk!", "XXX talks to the west!" All much to do about nothing. This might be different and I will be on the lookout, but I don't think so.

Says the guy who happy with LOA 93.
I can get by on LOA 93 as I have said before. We all have for quite a while. I know you are more than willing to sell your fellow pilot out, so you should be very happy with our leadership.

As you understand, the pay rate is meaningless to the bottom half (of CPTs and FOs) when scope is the trade off.

But not to worry, Doug and his pals are smarter than the sycophants even realize, so everything will be ok.

You stay on LOA 93. Tell you what. Since you are so concerned about your fellow pilot. How about you give up that captain seat and bid back to reserve F/O just to help your fellow pilots.

I have not been happy with the leadership for 4 years now. Sounds like it is you that is not happy with the leadership now.

Truth be known every single pilot in the USAir system should be concerned about scope.

The AA Term Sheet allows 880 RJs of 90 seats. We only have a few planes more than 500 among East, West, and express combined. Why do USAir pilots think they will ever see the AA rates if we have that kind of scope?

I'm afraid their is too much blathering interfering with cognition. Shall we resume propounding the smartness of the smart leaders who are really smart, and only the smart among us can really see just how supersize smart they are.

Be smart!

Hey Jim,

The company just said on the investor conference call they reached an agreement to acquire 5 more E190s. Want to look at those bids again?

I doubt you will see Jim on here for a while. He doesn't like to admit it when he is wrong.

Now you have done it!

He will be back any minute now because he loves to tell folks they are wrong about him being wrong.

You are wrong about him telling people that they are wrong about being wrong because he is never wrong!

Yes, then I suppose he won't be posting here for some time about people being wrong, otherwise it would prove that you are correct, and that is worse than him being unable to tell people they are wrong about him being wrong.

Well, well - a few potshots from the peanut gallery I see. PI, if they get all the i's dotted and t's crossed it appears that you were right about the extra 190's and I was wrong (so much for some of the peanuts being right with their potshotsplus I've always said that when I'm proven wrong I'll admit it). It took a while to see your original post about the 190's - too nice a day to play with the pre-schoolers plus the time difference is a ####. I usually read the forum in the morning or evening here which means afternoon or late at night there, but today the bike and highway beckoned and important stuff comes first.

Jim

You are wrong about him telling people that they are wrong about being wrong because he is never wrong! Remember, he closed bids about a half decade ago. ;-)

Who knows you may see a comical irony that he will say "I was wrong." Simply to say "You are wrong, that I never admit I am wrong.".

It's true after all, it is never about the facts but about who is wrong about who is wrong.

Grab a handful of peanuts and chew on the fact he is right about him being wrong and we were wrong about him being wrong.

I can't understand a word you're saying without the goofy smiley face.
