July - US Pilots Labor Discussion

I can't remember if it was Parker or McClellan that addressed waiting for US to liquidate during a brown bag lunch. The response was that Southwest would have outbid us on everything that was of value. I still think it was best for both companies in the long run. I doubt sans a merger with US, AWA would be looking at a merger with AA now. Maybe that would be a good thing. Maybe if I'd taken one of my dad's friends advice and followed him into Wall Street, I'd be worth a couple hundred mil like him. Who the heck knows. One thing I do know is that I'm disappointed USAPA is going after DOH again, with what appears to be a we won't take anything less attitude. Apparently, they/we are doomed to repeat their/our failures. Oh well. Does anyone think I have a shot at Delta when they start hiring (have 3000+121 PIC plus a couple 4yr degrees)???

Yep, we were the airline that wouldn't die. I have heard nothing about DOH again. I heard just the opposite. I'm not sure where you are going with the Delta thing since the worst you can do here is AA Green Book and the retirements will start to kick in soon. Company said they plan to hire 250/year for the forseeable future.

Driver...

No, the worst you can do here is what you are doing here and there are 3500 "other" pilots who are committed to making sure that never improves for you. It's not unlike being financially underwater in a house, located in a town run by the mob.

Take Delta in a heartbeat.

It really is funny how we keep arguing the same things.

Why don't we just take the word of the guy running the place. US would have liquidated and the future of AWA was bleak. Probably best case was to end up like Frontier. As he told the whiny guy at the crew news session, one thing he knows is that whiny is better off with the merger than without. We all are unless you think your future would have been better off at different companies.

Yeah, I'd say so. One thing to remember is that you have the US stink on you. This fight has been very public and produced some very bad attitudes on both sides. If you knew you were interviewing res jude or fodase would you hire them even though they think they are on the "good side"?

Sometimes when I get really frustrated with this place I wonder what it would have been like if I'd gone somewhere else. But overall I'm glad I stayed. I've raised my kids with a good standard of living and I've been able to live near my family and not commute, which I'm not good at.

Just got to add up the pro's and con's, make your decision and try to not look back.

Where are you getting your info?

Yes, the lastest is still DOH. Called down yesterday.
When the hell was it anything different? Of Course USTUPID is still going after the patently unobtainable....it's what they do in spades. They DEMAND it or else..."or else we're going to stay on LOA 93 and be ignored!!!"

The truth is not the currency of the realm here. Parker will tell you what he thinks will placate you and the media. USAPA will tell you what will shut up the yapping lapdogs in the Cleary Kennel. Few will just report the facts as they are known and let you make your own decision.

Someone once said, "Watch what they do, not what they say", but who it was, I can't quite remember. Maybe it was USAPA's last president who did irreparable damage both with what he said AND what he did.

Maybe I misunderstood the update. Didn't the union just pass something in the last week or two reafirming DOH? If they haven't removed it from the constitution and are adding more DOH mantra to it, just seems like the ship is still headed off course.

After todays conference call nothing but DOH will be considered.

usapa also claims to represent the 5200 pilots of LCC.

It is all just background noise from the scabs.

Here's the amended language that is a long way from being finalized:

[background=rgb(250, 250, 250)]"The USAPA Merger Committee shall comply with all provisions of the Constitution when combining seniority lists in any merger or fragmentation involving USAPA members. The Committee shall negotiate and or arbitrate for seniority integration in accordance with USAPA Merger Policy, [/background][background=rgb(250, 250, 250)]with particular emphasis on[/background][background=rgb(250, 250, 250)] [/background][background=rgb(250, 250, 250)]maintaining uniform[/background][background=rgb(250, 250, 250)] principles of seniority based date of hire [/background][background=rgb(250, 250, 250)]and the perpetuation thereof[/background][background=rgb(250, 250, 250)], with [/background][background=rgb(250, 250, 250)]reasonable conditions and restrictions to preserve each pilots un-merged[/background][background=rgb(250, 250, 250)] career expectations. and [/background][background=rgb(250, 250, 250)]increase[/background][background=rgb(250, 250, 250)] the standard of living of all USAPA pilots."[/background]

Once again the east (with idiots like luv cheering them on) is painting their negotiators into a corner by giving them little wiggle room with which to work. Only this time, the east has little to no involvement in the outcome of this merger and will be told how SLI is going to happen.

I'm not at all worried about this "reaffirmation" as I think Hummel knows its pointless and serves merely to quiet down the idiots on the east by throwing them a meatless bone.

The safer bet is to go with what the APA put out and that was relative seniority.
