I am going to Germany soon and was told by another pilot that US Airways won't let anyone Jumpseat on international flights, is this true?

Thanks for the info!

ps.. And I work for one of the WO Express carrier if that helps in the matter at all!

Most likely due to the IRO also having to be up there as well.

All of our ETOPS A/C have two jumpseats. I don't advocate going to Europe that way but some people have. Another issue is you must pay all applicable taxes and fees both ways.

If memory serves me, only the mainline pilots are actually allowed to ride up in the cockpit. All others must have a seat in the back.

Hope this helps.

I think you also have to be cleared by TSA 24 hrs prior, not sure if they are still doing this.

Only mainline pilots can sit in the cockpit on Int. Flights. That includes Carb. Islands as well that are not a US posession. If the is a seat in the back, you are welcome to it with the C/O's ok.

What? Why would the IRO be on the flight deck when they have their own suite in which to relax???

Hey...that ain't no A330 😉 Looks like an A319 to me...perhaps this bird?

Heard the range on these things were 100nm due to the APU's limited thrust 😉

Yes, only active mainline u pilots are allowed to ride j/s.
All taxes should be paid as if you were travling nonrev. Your name will be added to the gen decs if you are cleared for the j/s.

Thanks guys for all the info!! Kinda of sucks, I was hoping WO'ed Pilots would be allowed in the front :-(

But Hey, we are used to the abuse!! lol

Thanks

It's a TSA thing, not the company. You would be more than welcome if I had the last say.

YV,

Guess you dont know much about aviation, an APU can be inop and does not contribute to the thrust of an airplane, it generates air and electric when the engines are not.

Except, of course, when the APU is the only engine on the airplane...as is the case of the picture posted on this thread above.

Typically, Doogie has this model fitted with 100 seats, only because 101 would have meant paying another flight attendant.

If it is a A330, 767 or 757, if the engines and apu fail the RAT can provide some power.
