What leverage do you propose we use of Parker says no? Would you prefer to tank this deal Luv? You talk big but I hear no solutions coming. The APA knows its back is up against the wall and is negotiating accordingly. I do not see them, nor anyone, taking our concerns seriously. If you have options then I'd like to hear them.
Perhaps this is obvious to everyone else, but USAPA is irrelevant in the AA/US merger. Yes, that means no yellow lanyards!

And I do agree. I would like to understand where luv is getting his bravado from.

I don't know if you read this forum prior to joining, but if not Luv has a tendency to say lots of things - none of which have a shred of evidence to back them up. In fact, believing the reverse of what Luv says is a pretty good rule of thumb. Maybe it's his coping mechanism as his world is crashing down around him...

Here is the question we need to be asking instead of slinging poo at each other.

Given that AA stated in feb. that they need to lay off 400 pilots, 2300 f/a's 4200 fleet service, and 4300 mechanics......

Also that Doug signed an agreement giving them furlough protection, as in no furloughs at all.

Also that to date i don't think Doug has even talked to any of our unions.

Where do you suppose he is planning on getting those workforce reductions from?

We better hope USAPA and the other unions on the property have at least some influence left. I think if we take what doug has offered APA as it sits we native USAirways folks both east and west are getting boned.

I don't for one second believe that Doug intends to pay east and west the numbers he has promised to APA. He never has before and with tempes history of ignoring contracts and work rules I dont think he really intends to pay all he has promised to APA either.

You may not like USAPA or agree with them on much of anything, but at the end of the day they are all we have standing between us and a royal hose job. Doug could not give a crap about east or west at this point. He has the AA employees to deal with, both east and west I am sure is completly expendable in his eyes if that is what it takes to make this deal happen. Its been over a month now, If he gave a crap about USAPA, AOL, AFA etc or any east or west association or employee we would have been approached by now. To date I don't think that has happened anywhere on the property in any meaningful way.

Hope I am wrong about this.

Parker has stated that the no furlough applies to our pilots as well. And with the retirements coming up, attrition alone will keep him from having to furlough.

Unless it is in writing saying that in a contract I don't believe it. Back in 2008 he also stated in a company wide letter that if fuel prices drop back to below $100 (or $120 what ever the figure he used was) a barrel that they would not furlough....well the prices dropped prior to the furlough, yet we still had guys from both east and west hit the streets. Those guys ended up being out what? 2 years or a bit more?

You can take him at his word if you want.....I want it in a contractually binding document please.

I hope so as well. Unfortunately; I read the situation the same way.

You are one weak indvidual, guys like you are why we are in this situation today. You know what, lets all take a huge pay cut to help get this deal done, None of you are as good as a Delta pilot and you pay should reflect it. Myself, I could care less if this merge goes through or not.

Well, I guess we have to save a lot of west jobs since all those "retirements" are coming from the east, nice windfall huh? your welcome.
