the LAGOON hotel in Essington a hot spot for PHL flight crews. A lot of people use them as a crashpad...I keep hearing it will close soon...any truth? or real info? B)

They should put a runway right throught that shack. It has to be one of the all time worst. Though quick, easy and cheap they treat you like they don't need you. I hope it goes.

That place can't close quick enough. It's the epitome of "cheesy".

When I stayed there I would watch the occasional outside summer wedding. If your marriage starts off with a wedding overlooking that scumpool called the delaware river with airplanes roaring overhead and those nasty rooms overlooking your reception.... Talk about tackarama! ! ! If you could only afford a used dress and paper plates you still wouldn't get married at the damn Lagoon. Good grief have it in a cemetary first. Remember the rumors that the place was bought and was going to be a casino or hotel. The drunk van driver may have started that one.

Man Travelpro...I can't believe you admitted stay there. I would never admit that. lol 😛h34r:

yeah tell me about it. Standing with your back turned when the van shows up at B ticketing. Running to the van with my fake mustache and glasses. Oh how I hated that place. Especially the club side. I had a montly room. Man it didn't get any better than that. I'm glad I got smart and moved out of there.

they are nice to pilots...F/A's stiffed them on the rooms and always had DRAMA...that's why they only take a few F/A's pilots are low maint. and pay there bills...

Couldn't let this one go without a comment.......F/A's with Drama! "Whattcha talking about Willis  !" I swear some of them think it's a casting call for the Not so "Young and Restless". (It makes the day/trip interesting though). Pilots always paying their bills has me laughing louder and longer than trying to book a despised individual on a Pan Am clipper JFK-London. Obviously you never made the correlation between Cheap and Pilot......not ALL of them, but certainly MANY.

I don't stay there unless I'm desperate for a cheap room (i.e. Days Inn and Microtel are both booked.) But I don't want to see it closed, either. Closing the Lagoon will only make it more difficult to get into the Days Inn or Microtel with the loss of the cheap Lagoon rooms. (My guess is that those that normally stay at the Lagoon will not opt for the Marriott if and when the Lagoon closes.)

And considering that the Lagoon and Days Inn set their crew rates within pennies of each other, and raise them within minutes of each other, losing the Lagoon may end the days of inexpensive rooms altogether.

Well maybe they shouldn't close the hotel. I did hear from a supervisor the other day that they are very close to closing the quiet room's sleeping section at the PHL airport. They have said that when changing the trash people (hopefully men) have urinated into the trash cans. They also can't clean the section because the cleaners always get yelled at for doing their job. That area is dirty and disgusting to say the least. The best was when I went to get a soda and heard someone break wind over there. Oh god it was the funniest thing. Good things don't last forever. Mrs Roper that hangs out there in her Moomoo and curlers won't know what to do with her toaster.

If the Lagoon goes away, that's fine by me. It's a dump.
Having said that, the old BUF Airways comes to mind. Two dumps, what a great place the latter was.

Ah Yes, the Lagoon. That's the spot where the first European settlement was founded predating William Penn. Of course they failed and left. The hotel dates back to that era I believe (circa 1604 AD).

Oh how I miss my clubside room. I don't know how I was ever able to sleep. I guess enough red wine and sleeping pills can numb just about anything including noise. Hey, I never had to pay a quarter to have a vibrating bed. When they replaced the outside roof speakers my bed would feel like it was lifting off the floor. It was like the movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Oh wait, maybe that was the wine...

you guys should try the howard johnson. its new and very nice. the only thing about it is that the hotel van only runs every hour. it's the same price as the lagoon. and there is a best buy like 2 ft away from it. there is also a bennigans within walking distance and many more things to do. the rooms have flat screen tv's and are clean and the beds are very comofortable. try it . the number is 610-544-4700. its about the same didtance it is to go to the days inn. oh i forgot. they are very nice to crews too.

$5 dollar a day rental car on an adventure to across the border gentleman clubs all night. Kareoeke(spelling)was great when you had a 727 crew. Would order wings on the in range call and would bring directly to the gate, those were the days my friend. Bathroom floor sticking to the bottom of your feet and hearing everything going on in other room because of paper thin walls and it goes on and on. B)
