LAGOON in PHL

the LAGOON hotel in Essington a hot spot for PHL flight crews. A lot of people use them as a crashpad...I keep hearing it will close soon...any truth? or real info? B)

Stayed on Saturday night. Took my ear plugs. Left the lights on hoping to keep the roaches at bay. Front desk would not confirm closure. 😉
It's a dump but it's convenient and cheap.

Oh get over yourself. It's a funny post. The place is a dump. You know it, I know and so does everyone else. I didn't say it was the worst place to be on the planet. Don't pick apart what I said. Go get married there then and have a big party. Good lord you can't even joke on here. Go hand rice to the poor then. WEIRDO. 🙄

Just admit you're a yuppie snob and go back to watching
Dancing with the Stars and your $3 Starbucks coffee.

Ohhh buddy you definately got me pegged. Right on the money! 🙄 Again, this was a thread about the Lagoon Hotel....ok? It was comical in nature as is the whole existence of that DUMP! ! ! Find the accomodations acceptable and to your liking? I'm shocked. Good for you if they are. Here is your "Tip for the day", PUT ME ON IGNORE PLEASE! It usually solves most of your issues here on Usaviation.com. 🙄 If your an employee of Usairways you might think of putting the EAP phone number on speed dial. Good day.

yeah, remember that time you were wearing your skinny jeans and we were making fun of people in levis? It was in front of the Cosi on Walnut....i won't forget it because that biatch walked past your miata and smudged it with her pocketbook right after you had it detailed. by the way, i know you were traveling so I tivo'd dancing with the stars this week...although how could you not love emmitt smith...those dimples on mario lopez make me melt

I don't stay there unless I'm desperate for a cheap room (i.e. Days Inn and Microtel are both booked.) But I don't want to see it closed, either. Closing the Lagoon will only make it more difficult to get into the Days Inn or Microtel with the loss of the cheap Lagoon rooms.

I don't know why you people just don't get a crashpad. If you are paying more than $150 a month in a hotel, get a crashpad. I pay less than two hundred and no body is ever here. You have a guaranteed spot. Even if you only use it twice, it is piece of mind knowing that you are not scrambling to find a room...especially on those days where weather causes problems in Philly. Then again, when aren't there problems in Philly?

I have thought about this solution often. The fact of the matter is that I like my privacy and am not willing to take the chance that I won't show up at the pad on a night when it's a full house. Or even half full, for that matter.

Second (and please don't anyone take offense,) I don't care to hang out with airline employees. I don't mind working with our highly professional crews and other staff, but when I'm out of the airplane, I want to be as far from this industry as I possibly can. And this feeling gets more intense as the years progress. I think a lot of this stems from the crap we've all put up with over the past several years, and the fact that it's nearly impossible for airline people to be in the same room without talking "airline." (This drives most "earth" people nuts.) And now that airline conversation amounts to too much b**ching and moaning (I'm just as guilty of it) and I don't need to have that type of conversation then try to get to sleep!

Hotels for me.

what a true statement... there are some really good pilot crashpads...about 250.00 per month that work very well...F/A's in crash pads only work with a few...like if you are 50+ years old and have a clue to life...other than that female f/a crashpads are drama drama drama...and I am being kind...I would go on but would be band from posting... 😀

You are correct to a point. There are many people looking for crashpads. You have to be selective on who you let in the pad. Our crash pad generally looks for people with like personalities, mix of male/female, and you only get in if someone knows you. We don't post in the crewroom. Lord only knows what wack you might get. It is rare that there is anymore than 3 people here at a time and we have 9. You make the best of it.
