look for a possible announcement on new european routes to lisbon , milan ,& stockholm sweden on the 20th. got it from a credible source. i hope i am not wrong on this.

What planes are they going to use?

There are no spare widebody aircraft to use, especially with seasonal services starting up again.

like i said it's a possible announcement . i could be wrong. but the person who told me got it from a managers meeting today. so it could be announced tomorrow or sometime later. heard that the company is looking to aquire some 757's from ATA which are etops equipped. take a chill pill 700 . let's wait what tomorrow brings then you can bash me all you want ok.

I am not bashing nor in need of a chill pill.

I asked a legitimate question as US has no spare a/c for more European flights.

What planes? They'll just announce service startup and then lease a couple Metroliner IIIs, equip them with drop tanks and in-flight refueling and call it "Envoy Express." Can you imagine the luxurious 1x1 seating? 😀

Come on, that's impossible, you should know by now that this management team doesn't make announcements or issue press releases for new US/East service. They'll just upload the new flights into the schedules and hope that the customers stumble upon them by accident.

Or maybe they'll be announcing PHX-LIS/MXP/ARN, that sounds more like their style.

They were talking about it at the Sea Shell Lounge in Moon Township.....that venerable watering hole, they are considering outsourcing it to Republic using the E170 and find a means to refuel inflight. Beijing and Kuala Lumpur are also on the horizon. No Tokyo though, someone in Tempe doesn't eat sushi

Right on! In addition to this, LGW/FRA and CDG should see and extra flight during the summer from PHL. GLA/SNN and DUB will go to 757 with the ATA etop aircraft allowing for some spare 767s. This should be announced soon, hopefully in the next week.

My prediction
SNN/GLA/LIS = 757
ARN/MXP = 767

Anyone who would voluntarily fly PHL-MXP in the back of a 757 needs their head examined.

What is the difference flying a 757 transcon? Or an AA or CO 757 across the pond? Or the middle seat in the middle row of a 777/747/A330/A340?

I'm not so sure they wouldn't put the 330 to MXP instead of the 767 and keep LGW 767, especially if they can sell the Envoy cabin. Let's face it, BA runs 2 dailies in the summer, usually a 777 & a 747. US cannot compete against their F & C class product. I know they were shot down for MXP route authority at least twice before EU open skies.

ARN is good in that it fills a *Alliance gap, allowing connections to SAS. It would allow people to get to Scandanavia, the Baltics, Poland and Russia earlier in the day. LIS also allows people to connect to TAP with service to the Azores and African destinations.

Hopefully etops1's source ain't just whistling dixie!

Couldn't tell you what the final announcement will be, nor who the source is. What I can tell you is that there is definite truth to this rumor. US is looking to add seasonal European service from PHL to complement underserved Alliance markets w/ TZ 57's sitting in Europe. I'm not sure on the details, but there are 3 either in France or Germancy w/ a leasing company.

Stay tuned...
