Conniegirl, here is what I am trying to understand. TWA was in very bad shape, had about 23 Million in the bank, and was buring through over a million a day. They surely never would of took back to flying had they been "single" on 9/11. They basically had no cash or assets. Yourself and all the other very senior people who decided to stay knew something like this could happen. The writing had been on the wall for years. So AA "Bought" not merged TWA and stuck you and many others on the bottom of the seniority lists, since in all reality, you were a new hire. Although you did keep everything else, including a big pay raise.
I now have a few questions....
Why do you feel AA employee's should of given new hires, seniority accured at the former company?
If TWA bought AA and at the time brought over there 21,000 F/A's, would you and your co-worker's have thought it would of been fair to give date of hire? The TWA people would of basically been lost, considering AA's huge numbers, would that have been fair?
Do you really think TWA, would be flying today, had it not been for AA purchasing the company?
Do you think it would be fair if AA gave TWA people date of hire, and then had to furlough F/A's that were always employeed with AA, while TWA people held the best of the best?
I have a friend who had 6 years with TWA, during the merger he was STL based. He went from in 3 months, a line, to reserve, to furloughed. His anger and rage towards AA is just unnatural. I asked him those same question's up top and a few more. He answered everything as AA promised us this and AA promised us that. In the end he said TWA never would of survived, and he wished AA had just let the company die.
Do you think this would of been easier for all the TWA people (for the company to just have died)? Would they have lost the people to blame for losing their job's? Do you place any blame with the IAM for not protecting your scope before going into Chapter 11?
What would of made the TWA people happy?
I saw a video of them picketing in BOS not long ago and it's sad, really sad, they just can't move on, or didn't take the time given and train for a new career or new airline later on.
P.S. I noticed the mod's block these thread's and for good reasoning. I just want some real unbiased asnwers. Thank You.
Actually, I'm not going to "debate" you. I'm pretty certain you don't want an answser to the list of questions you just asked....your questions remind me of something an old friend used to say..."don't confuse me with facts, my mind's already made up".
I'm pretty certain that whatever I would say would be "debatable" because you think you already know the answers.
