Mitt Romney plans to name Congressman Paul Ryan as his vice president

He knows the budget better than anyone in the country including everyone at the White House and he is honest about how bad it is even at his own electoral peril. We should respect and praise that kind of honesty from a politician.
Watch the video below of Chris Mathews praising Ryan and saying basically Americans are not smart enough to handle the truth.

If he's such an expert then he should know that rasiing the defense budget is pure folly that only throws more money at the problem. What really is the issue when it comes to the DOD budget is the broken procurement process and politicians unwilling to axe programs that are of dubious value.

Makes perfect sense if you're a bought and paid for whore for the Banksters and the Military Industrial Complex.

It's easy to be a budget expert when you have a printing press in the basement and are a willing stooge of Osama bin Bernanke.

Let's see how far the Ryan plan of privatizing social security goes.

"At the heart of the controversy is Ryan’s proposal to turn Medicare in the future into a “premium support” system that would directly subsidize insurance companies on behalf of seniors. It would essentially put more caps on future Medicare expenditures.

Democrats prefer to use the “V” word to describe the plan: Voucher. And they point to independent studies showing that the voucher, a predetermined amount of money that escalates at a predetermined rate over time, won’t keep pace with the inflation of medical costs.

Bottom line: Seniors would have to pay much more out of pocket in the future. Services could be cut.

Ryan and the plan’s defenders point out that nothing’s free. Someone’s always paying something for Medicare or any other government program. He said he wants to change the plan for those younger than 55 to save the program, which is on an unsustainable path.

A Florida poll last week showed Baby Boomers, worried about their future, plan to rely more on Social Security and Medicare than they had initially anticipated. So talk of cuts can spook these voters."

The easiest thing to do would be to copy the plan used in Chile. It works and the people love it. That won't happen and the reason is they want your retirement every dime of it for their Wall Street Cronies. Know what? They'll get it.

They call it the American dream because you have to be asleep to believe anymore.

We have had 44 presidents and 44 vp's. Out of the 88 of them only one has not been white. There.have only been two females on the ticket both of whom were white. Electing one out of 88 does not mean the problem is solved. It just means there was one minority person elected to the White House.

And again I go back to the point that no one seems to want to address. Out of all the people in the US the republicans could not find a qualified person who was not a white Christian male?

Given how Mormons view women it is no surprise that a woman was not considered but that leaves quite a few possibilities other than a white Christian male. I guess if you are part of the republican base that just is not a possibility. How sad.

If you want to go down that road mybe we should adopt Germany's healthcare system.

If you have spent any time among evangelicals you would know there is a significant percentage that don't consider Mormons Christians.

They are a cult in some eyes.

I know. Everyone thinks their religion/God is the right one and everyone else is wrong. Big surprise lol.

One thing I neglected to mention is the 44 candidates and 44 VP candidates who lost. So out of 176 of the two primary party candidates and all the other smaller party candidates we have 2 female candidates and 1 minority. Not exactly a cross section of the US.

Did you forget the McCain/Palin ticket in 2008? Bachmann ran in 2012?

Republicans wanted Colin Powell on the ticket in 2008. I would have supported him if he ran. I like his military background and thought he would have made a good president in a time of war where our troops were fighting on multiple fronts. Colin Powell was qualified, he chose not to run.

Herman Cain was a Republican candidate in 2012 as I recall.

Post 39 specifically mentions 2 female candidates. That would cover Palin. Cain did not get the nomination did he? There is a porn start who was running as well and I thin Roseanne Barr is got a nod from a fringe party as well. I'm only talking about the main parties as right now given the system we have they are the only ones who have a legitimate shot at the WH.

Yes and Collin Powell was not nominate was he? And that is the point I am making. Powell is a far better candidate for Pres or VP than any candidate on the ballot so why was he not chosen over Ryan or Biden? Aside from the fact that his wife would probably kick his ass if he accepted. I'm willing to bet that if Powell were asked to serve he would. He strikes me as the type of person who would answer the call. So why was he not asked?

The first woman VP candidate passed recently. She was Walter Mondale's running mate from NY Geraldine Ferraro

How do you know Powell was never considered (for Obama) Obviously Romney would not offer it to him since he endorsed Obama.

Candidates who choose idealism over getting elected, well, do not get elected. When the USA is ready to elect that sort of team, they will..

I will take someone who gets elected and enacts some change over an idealist who is relegated to the sidelines, screaming (Ron Paul Bot's)

I never said he was not considered. What I said and am saying is that he was not nominated, nor was any other minority put on the ticket with the exception of Palin and Ferraro. Every other nominee in the history of the US for the WH has been a white christian male.

So only whites Christian males will sell their soul for the WH?
