What's new

Mitt Romney plans to name Congressman Paul Ryan as his vice president

Well he did vote against te Simpson-bowls act. He also voted for TARP and the auto bail out among other things.

Oh boy. Ryan wanting to "change" Medicare.
Medicare, Social Security are considered "Third Rail" issues.
Everytime I'm in the Subway (Bos or NY) I Always notice the SIGN(s) that read......

" D A N G E R....Third Rail LIVE " !!

Only a FOOL ignores Life or Death Warnings !

Ryan is quite good at telling the media how he wants to be portrayed, instead of them, you know, actually analyzing his record.

BTW Tom, I find it interesting that he wants to eviscerate Medicare (and SSN), yet voted for Part D. He's also already been an SSN recipient. And as Tree noted, he also voted for the TARP bailout, which certainly falls in the "big government" category.

For our anti labor friends on the board, he's also consistently voted to protect Davis-Bacon ('course, it's worth noting that he has family interests in construction)...

Don't you think that if SS and Medicare are left alone they will self-destruct on their own? Something has to be changed.

PS,
Your boy Ryan.....looks like ICABOD CRANE !!
There you go with the name calling.................this "boy" must scare the crap out of you.............. He's smart, articulate, and even has the Dems in his own district voting for him.

sure some things need to be changed. The problem is he wants to turn Medicare into a voucher system that may or May not cover the cost of insurance. Unless you overhaul the insurance company and the pharmaceutical industry all that is being done is putting theses who are already at a disadvantage even farther behind the 8 ball.

The problem is that congress is in the pocket of business and going after them is not going to happen. Ryan voted in favor of plan D and we know what a success that was/is.

Ryan could be a big benefit for Obama.

Changed yes. Burned to the ground? No.

My point earlier was that he is a man whose actions often run counter to his soundbites.

Ryan's plan could cost seniors up to 6k more a year...

Then there are all the other things that he voted for that have contributed to the deficit. That's why all his talk about the deficit rings a bit hollow with me. Let's not forget the thinly vieled worshiping of an avowed atheist, Ayn Rand. Can only imagine what the GOP would be saying if Rep. Ryan were a democrat. Or the lifetime of public service that Paul Ryan has had with no private sector backgorund. Is'nt that one of the GOP's criticisms of Obama?

Spot on. It would appear that in Paul ryan's world everyone is supposed to sacrafice unless you are a defense contractor or make a certain amount of money.

Biden’s ‘Back in Chains’ Remark Draws Fire

By Jared A. Favole
The Romney campaign said the race for the White House reached a “new low” after Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday told voters in Virginia that Mitt Romney‘s policies will put people “back in chains.”
Mr. Biden, speaking at a campaign event, said if Mr. Romney wins the presidential race he’d “let the big banks once again write their own rules,” a reference to Mr. Romney’s comments that he would roll back Wall Street reform. Mr. Biden said Mr. Romney would “unchain Wall Street,” and after boos from the audience he added, “They’re going to put you all back in chains.”

The crowd cheered and booed following the remarks, which were made in Danville, Va. to a crowd that included many African American supporters. Virginia is a battleground state that Mr. Biden and Mr. Obama won in 2008.

Mr. Biden’s comments caused a swift backlash from the Romney campaign.
“After weeks of slanderous and baseless accusations leveled against Governor Romney, the Obama Campaign has reached a new low,” Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said. She said Mr. Biden’s comments are “not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama Campaign will say and do anything to win this election. President Obama should tell the American people whether he agrees with Joe Biden’s comments.”
Mr. Obama’s deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, told MSNBC that the campaign doesn’t have a problem with Mr. Biden’s comments because he was using them as a metaphor for the consequences of rolling back Wall Street reform.
“The bottom line is that we have no problem with those comments,” Ms. Cutter said. Later, in a statement released to reporters, Ms. Cutter said Mr. Biden’s comments were in line with his previous remarks that the middle-class needed to be unshackled.
“Today’s comments were a derivative of those remarks, describing the devastating impact letting Wall Street write its own rules again would have on middle class families,” Ms. Cutter said. She added, “We find the Romney campaign’s outrage over the Vice President’s comments today hypocritical, particularly in light of their own candidate’s stump speech questioning the President’s patriotism.”
Mr. Biden has a history of statement and gaffes that have made headlines. In fact, in the same speech Tuesday, Mr. Biden told the Virginia voters: “With you — and I mean this — with you, we can win North Carolina again.”
His comments come after two weeks of fighting between the campaigns over negative ads. One ad from a pro-Obama super PAC suggests Mr. Romney’s business dealings contributed to a woman’s death from cancer by depriving her of health insurance. The Romney campaign said it crossed the line and some on the left said they found its tone troubling.
And the Obama campaign has decried an ad from the Romney campaign that says Mr. Obama is trying to roll back work requirements for welfare recipients. The Obama campaign, the White House and many others have said the claim is false.

Remind me again how long we have to wait to send him back to Delaware?

Looks like we may have to send someone in for a drug test !
