What's new

More pilot recalls coming!

xoxo,
No offense, but you took the job knowing the pay scale. That doesn't make it right; but you and only you made that choice. Sounds like it's time for the stews to take it to the mattresses (for you sickos thinking something else that's Godfather style)

Later,

When I took the job it was starting at $24 a year...at this point I should be over $30 a year....am I mad? Yes...will I try to change it? Yes. Trust me you want people working at the airlines who have a level of commitment, rather than people who are ok with less than poverity wages. Do you want Mesa level service and safety? Because thats what we are making now.

Excuse me, yes we did know the payscale when we started and it was much different, however 3 paycuts have changed that scale that we started at, so NO we did not know this payscale then.

...... ~ $42,000. Group II FO

....... ~ $33,000 EMB190 FO

Furloughedagain,

Based on what I find on the usairwayspilots.org website I also come up with the same approximate numbers as you posted. (Thats using the contract as posted, so the numbers are garrrruntteed until sundown.)

These are Mainline wages??! That pilots agreed to??!!    They agreed to work for those wages??!!

Oh yeah, they didn't agree to work for those wages. They agreed to have someone else work for those wages.

This pretty much sums it up....If recalled at year 4 pay I can not afford to leave republic because i would take a 35% paycut in the 190 and a 10% paycut in group 2 aircraft. That is so f-ed up!

"That is so f-ed up!"

I agree. Have you figured out yet that you will likely earn more over your lifetime if you get OUT of flying and into your own business?

Because what is "so f-ed up" is not going to get any better. It's only going to get worse.

The advice offered to future airline pilots, that they should not start or stay in this industry or return when furloughed, is given by pilots who started for little wages long ago and are staying in this industry. They forgot what it was like to be a newbie and are doing nothing to make this a better place when they leave.

If you want to be a pilot, do not listen to these negative voices, they are the ones that brought the industry down.

All airlines pilots are at fault, their greed and self serving attitude came back to bite them in the ass. They do not want to look you in the eye, so they tell you not to fly.

If flying is your passion, come on in but realize, it has been a fight every day and will remain so.

Enjoy, but save for a rainy decade every once and a while.

Absolutely correct!

Come on back or stay in the business and realize your passion. If it is flying you love then be true to your love.

There is no fault here. Flying is not something done for money, it is something done for the pure love of aviation. We should do all it takes to save our passion. And we have. And we shall continue to do so. Whether old or young, flying. Ah yes, to fly is to live.

And based on your postion on age 60 appearantly you think you should be able to fly till you die!

Absolutely! I hope to pass in the cockpit with the big one. Hopefully at age 80 or later. Then my F/O can be the hero and bring the jet back to the sweet earth as he finally gains a number. And I will have passed whilie in my true home. The flight deck. Where our passion truly resides. Oh, sweet flying. How I love thee.

The love of flying! The unmitigated joy of having control of a jet (heavy or RJ) from either seat, in my uniform, with all the admiring glances while I stroll through the terminal, proudly wearing my leather jacket with epaulets attached, hat cocked ever so slightly to one side, my sunglasses on my belt, Ray-bans on, flight kit in hand, and adventure ahead is just too much to give up. No, age 60 nor low pay nor low wages nor poor schedule nor any other barrier should keep us from our passion. To fly is to live. Be it in an A-330 or CRJ or Dash-8 or Beech 1900. To fly is to live.

In fact, though I hesitate to say, we would all work for less if we had to. Much less. Because it is not about the money. It is about the passion. The joy. The power, prestige, uniform, leather jackets, sunglasses, flight kits and all that is part of our profession. Our persona. Our love, our passion. Flying. That is what it is about. To fly.

Welcome back furloughees. Welcome back to your true love. Your passion. Your profession. We have missed you. Choose the right choice. Come back. Back to the company you love. The union you love. The fellow aviators who share your passion for flying. We shall work together until age 65. And maybe even longer if we can. For flying is not a profession, not a job. It defines our very being.

Pilot,
Enjoyed the satire on your post.

To present/future AAA pilots: you have your work cut out for you....good luck in restoring the profession. The picketing event Nov 16 may be a good place to start.

The sad part is simply that much of what I put in there is not satire.

It is the reason why we find ourselves in the postitions we are in today.
