What's new

N838AW

I saw this plane in PHL last night and I probably walked past it 4 or 5 times before realizing it....you wouldnt notice it if its parked between an original AW and a newly painted US (as it was last night.) I think they should have used the older AW livery for a true "throwback" look.

On another note....
You should know by now that the west folks can't win the World's Biggest Martyr award from the east folks. PHL is going to be renamed "The Whine Country"
Thats ok we'll just call PHX and LAS "Junior" stations!

It's 7:37am right now and I'm sitting in the USAirways Club in PHL looking at N838AW (heritage) at B3 and a newly painted N664AW (new livery) at B5. Boy do these planes look nice.

Of course I'm not traveling with my digital camera, which is usually in my computer bag so I had to take pictures with my cell phone. They won't look as good.

And parked at B7 is the original painted USAirways A320. All in a row these planes do look nice.

DUDE.....Take a fricken Midol already.

If you had constructive ideas perhaps you would be taken seriously. Anyone that comes on here bashing everything and anything, with no constructive ideas of their own are just wasting airtime.

Agreed.
I thought autofixer quit and opened a transmission shop. Guess I got the wrong guy.

Paint job looks good.

I like it. 🙂

Yes, it does look like most of the present AWA aircraft, but once they are painted it will stand out. I still think it's a great idea to keep and bring back the old paint jobs. I can't wait to see the others roll out.

Was this aircraft completely repainted or did they just paint out the America West name and add the US Airways name?
838AW is a fairly new aircraft, so they probably just changed the name. It did not fly to ROW green, it has been in service for a couple of months now.

Some folks are so committed to their negative thinking that they need to perpetuate it just to convince themselves they were right all along. A positive thought or comment, to them, is failure. There really is no hope for that type of person as long as they stay wedded to their betrayal and denial of reality.

The only hope for the rest of us is to step back and not let any more of their corrosive attitude get spilled on the those doing the work of building something new and better. We can't afford to be slowed down by them.

What does get along mean? Lap up what management tells us and live in a dream world and believe all is well; until the cash runs out and they come back and demand more concessions or they will liquidate the airline? All I want is for management to start doing their job. I do mine everytime I fly or I kill 150 people.

My bet is the plane in question looks just like N109UW. How about all of those 737s that are so bad, I am embarrased everytime I have to fly one? Let's paint planes that do not need painting, what a great idea. Maybe we should downsize the airline some more so that we can lose more PRMs (revenue). Let us start re-arranging furniture too, whilest the orchestra plays.

We are how many months into this "merger"? What is being done to take advantage of our strengths? But what do we see on these boards, "Oh, oh, oh let's see a picture of the new paint job (That looks just like N109)!" We have seen the paint 'em and sell 'em routine before. It is hard to get excited about another new paint scheme.
Why don't you tell us exactly what has gone wrong since the merger?

DP renegged on his promise to merge the best of both FlightFund and the DM program. Instead, he his chasing away the VFF even though many of us have been loyal to US for many years.

DP has made it clear that the "expensive" ticket purchasers are not the target marget.

DP renegged on his promise to make customer service a priority. Instead, empty promises of return phone calls and insincere lip service about how important comments from the customer are spewed.

DP promised amenities of a legacy carrier and the fares of a LCC. Instead, he is charging the same fares as legacy carriers for the FC cabin and providing very little in return. If you are going to have a barebones FC product, charge an appropriate fare.

DP has promised a vision for the new US. Instead, Tempe has forgotten about the East half of the airline--particularly the customers. He has maintained his regional airline mentality and continues to forget about the new routes that the East side is offering.

Hmmmm....let's see, what else....

I talked to the guy who has been supervising the A/C paint jobs in ROW.

They had to repaint only the white parts of the aircraft. Originally the job was just to replace the name, but when the US Airways name was added, the two colors of white did not match, which required any white part of AC to be repainted. Anything with the AWA teal/red was not repainted, since it is a fairly new AC for the fleet.

Funny, no one had to convince the thousands who left the airline industry (ON THIER OWN) knowing the good days were over forever. Lets turn it around and say YOU are trying to make yourselves feel better knowing you are caught in a deadly cross fire. Your attitude can be anything you want it to be but the bullets are still singing inches over your head regardless...that sir IS YOUR REALITY and every time you open your eyes, you are still there in that dark scary place.

Yes, I agree, I think the original looked better but it would have cost more to repaint the WHOLE aircraft. Thank GOD they got rid of that over sized comic book font
in the front.

Why not the original America West scheme? That would be different a bit.

He also hired Jerry Glass and Al Crelin.

He's no different than Siegel. Anyone who thinks he is doesn't get it. This merger bought us 2-3 more years. The airline is not going to move anywhere but down unless these morons focus on running an airline instead of the continuing attempt to outsource, lower wages. cast off employees and use small jets on routes that need large ones. SWA can't even spell Embraer or Canadair much less have one on their property.

Just as all of US employees have to "adjust" to our respective changes, so does our management. I, for one, have nothing to lose by giving Doug and CO a chance to make things better. During my "career" here at US, I have seen a revolving-door of clowns going into and out of CCY. We always gave them a chance. Of all the people that have taken the reigns, Doug has exuded a different persona, a lot of us really want to believe in his style. I am being cautiously optimistic. Which is a hell of a lot more than I can say about the last half-dozen crooks that have been my boss. So I say to you Loyal US customers, please give the company a piece of your minds. At the moment, they seem to be listening to our gripes as employees. I'd like to think that if you all voice your concerns to them also, they might listen. Alot of us are really making an effort to perk up and make your travel experience with us better, so please let em have it out in Tempe. hopelfully they will listen to you guys also!!!!
