Negotiations........why?

Well we had a crude powerpoint presentation of our initial position going in to negotiations. It was underwhelming and disappointing to say the least. I left that meeting more discouraged than anything, but not surprised. As others have posted, the infighting between twu and iam will drag these negotiations down. I agree with you dfw gen. The association should have been meeting months ago and been ready to go when the nmb rammed the ruling down our throats. Out.

the art of misconception is hugely prevalent in this membership and we will never learn our lesson.

the company and the TWU have us believe in what they say, we bite ,  time gets lost believing in the conception that we are being told the truth and then the bottom falls out and we vote "yes"!       sound familiar?

lets see how long they can stall until the economy turns and then push for negotiations/concessions

same playbook   same results

I believe in NOTHING the twu has to say. Unions are finished. These days they are nothing more than a business. The only concern the twu or iam has is the preservation of dues. There once was a time and desperate need for unions. That time is gone. Now they are no better than the robber barons of old. Preying on the working man. Just the opinion of a 25 year AMT. Carry on...............

Where is this presentation?
It was "presented" at the 567 meeting. Full of disclaimers and incomplete. Yet another impressive failure of the twu.

Amen brother! This alliance or newly formed international coalition should be properly called the DUES ALLIANCE. Nothing more nothing less! I have completely lost my faith in so called unionism. AMFA is/was a breath of fresh air in the stagnant business union dues collection institution that most american's are faced with. The twu and iam both prey on unsuspecting workers that are too busy to realize that they are being played for fools  by a few humans that control the union propaganda machine.  I expect zero from this Dues COALITION and hope I don't get less, hence hidden concessions.

Disclaimers?
I GUESS WE NEED TO SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU. dis·claim·er

disˈklāmər/

noun

plural noun: disclaimers

a statement that denies something, especially responsibility.

"the novel carries the usual disclaimer about the characters bearing no relation to living persons"

synonyms:denial, refusal, rejection

"a disclaimer of responsibility"

LAW

an act of repudiating another's claim or renouncing one's own.

synonyms:renunciation, relinquishment,resignation, abdication;

repudiation,abjuration, disavowal

"a deed of disclaimer"

I know what a disclaimer is. The point was Pike presented the plan but said it won't happen if??? If what??? Oil prices? Recession? Claiming the Int'l will stop them? Saying the Association could stop them? What?

The international will do whatever it wants through threats and manipulation. But you knew that anyway.

Guess on a JCBA? Lot's of factors. If the belief is this is a full blown contract negotiations and that's the way it's approached by the committee we could be in for a long wait. The current AA/TWU CBA is not amendable until 9/12/2018 so if the committee treats this as a "I want all my stuff back plus" type negotiations then AA can stall until 2018. I am not sure if the NMB can be called in during JCBA process. The IAM heads up the Association first so let's see what approach is taken.
