What's new

New AA Union Drive

Gentlemen

Look at what is going on here this guy has come on the board and turned this in to mechanics vs fleet service lets don't let one TWU baiter get us off target fleet service is not the issue jim little and all his boys are, while it might be inviting to call someone a bootlicker or company men it is not in our the best interest if you are for AMP try to stay on the high road you don't know who is reading this.

Please never forget that 2400 cards where signed for AMFA in Tulsa thats almost double anywhere else now I no they will say well on a percentage base it was low but if I could tell how many times I had to undo something that was said on the internet to get someone to sign. I promise you it will in no way help our cause to be drawn into this debate.

I spoke with some tltle 2 guys at dfw they like the idea but they have not made up their minds the TWU is in real trouble lets not provide them ammo to shoot at us.

I appreciate your hard work and I know you mean well and I undestand your frustration stay the course and we will win this time!

For your uninformed information, I am not a TWU cronie. I am at AFW where we have voted down every contract sent to us. This is more than I can say for you people at Tulsa and the flight line[except JFK, which has almost always voted with us]. I am sorry that I can't be in your little forum just because you think you are the greatist thing to come out of a + p school.

A new AA grassroots union movement has begun. BTW, before anybody asks, I'm not a part of it and know nothing about it. Notices are being posted on bb's in our hangar. Association of Maintenance Professionals is their title. They even have a website:ampnational. org. Nothing like a new set of officers, rejection of the t/a, and a new union drive to shake things up.
Mr. Birdman:

Is there or will there be (besides one using their common sense while voting) any prohibition re: those who wish to run for elected office in AMP having not been TWU officers for a period of time?

The reason I ask is, as all have seen over the years, some have made the TWU a career instead of the job they were hired to do for the company and consequently have become useless to themselves but more importantly, to the membership they pretend to work for.

Where you are located has nothing to do with my post, the post I referenced and this one once again try to paint us as elitist which is not the case. The simple truth is that our fight is with the international and it is not our responsibilty to organize everyone so that we can leave. the TWU line is that we hate everyone and we only care about ourselves. Why was it ok for the f/A's to leave the TWU truth is they used the same tatics to try and stop them.

Now as far as who you are it does not matter but if you clean airplanes at AFW then you may be one of a small group of title three that could be in the middle of this. There are a handfull of fleet service in very specfic jobs that were included in the class and craft after the AMFA filing.

You might want to read their constitution at ampnational.org. I scanned it last week and don't recall any prohibition except not being in good standing. Those I work with have discussed this among ourselves and wondered if any current or past offices would even want to run for an AMP office.

I've read it (twice) and didn't see any restrictions either - just asking if you'd seen something I didn't.

Actually doing a job the membership pays for and being expected to perform/do it correctly would seem to be against the creedo of most of the 514 office denizens anyway, as you imply. I say most because there are a couple in there that actually do a wonderful job, like D'anne.

Most of them, however - let's just say I'm rather thankful they don't wrench on airplanes and let it go at that.

Just curious - thanks.

The AMP constitution is clear about accountability. If certain individuals believe the current unaccountable practices can carry over to an organization that is founded on accountability they are in for a rude awakening.

I really like the "rude awakening" part ...

You must not be up on things. Amt's clean airplanes at AFW.

An independent union membership drive is under way among American Airlines aircraft mechanics, officials say.

Can someone... anyone help me out with a question I have about putting different initials over the same door.
TWU Local 565 had what most would call a traditional (for better or worse) AFL CIO Leadership till the fall of 2008. Their president (the author of this paragraph) in May of 08 stood his ground and voted not to bring back a TA which is essentially better than the one we are currently voting on.
In the summer of 2008 democracy in the form of the local 565 elections took place and installed the current clown act we now have running the local.
Yes thats right CLOWN ACT!! ....the new president of the local got in a carnival style Dunk Tank with local Management .... If that dos'nt say Clown Act ... I dont know what does.
Anyway back to the AMP debate.... the electorial process put the 565 clown act in office .... fair and square, from the members ballots.... then the main Clown got out of his dunk tank and agreed to bring this TA back to his people. Not to be out done his E board Clowns quickly doned cartoon masks and Saturday morning personas to smear do-do all over the main Clown on this web site. All that is lacking from this clown fest is a monkey and an organ grinder.

What? ... Please tell me WHAT??? Can this AMP do to prevent the above embarresment repeating itself???...

The new president was in a dunk tank to make money for charity..............But the old president was in the Drunk tank!! Leaving his E board to run the local. And I must say they did a good job. Try to contain yourself at 3 in the morning!    😱

Which by the way, that extension should have been brought to the membership to vote on. Political posturing so as to look stronger during an election cycle, sadly prevented that.

It will not be that door, the INT holds the mortgage to that building and I fairly sure they are not going to give it to the inbound crew.

There is nothing that can be done to prevent such a debacle, WE have always been and will always be our own worst enemy’s. But it seems to me "ex-president" it is time for the INT to be flushed; this is a subpar agreement and hopefully the last of the subpar agreements to be brought back to us.

What’s more, the INT has done very little in the political arena to correct the mistakes that de-regulation has brought us. And, whether the readers of this board want to admit it or not, the airline business has been in a 30 year race to the bottom due to de-reg. So, what good are they? All that political firepower is good for nothing. The bottom line is if not for de-reg, we would not be in this unenviable position and the TWU as a whole has done nothing to reverse that.

Drunk tank ? ..Jerry? ...Come on now
Thats the pot calling kettle black.
