New AA Union Drive

How about Accountability and a Democratic union body for starters?

I will second that thought. Also, as long as you're mentioning the pilots contract - they are doing a lot better than us!

New AMP flier out with all the bullet points. Please forward to fellow mechanics. Thanks

Yea those Pilots are so screwed, they need to follow our example and give up their Medical cap so they can watch their rates go up 500%!

When I first got into negotiations I heard Don and his minions repeatedly rail against the pilots and how screwed up they were with their Hard Line tactics, we would be so much better off by sticking to "the high road". Then I sent them a copy of the pilots wages from their contract and said "Yea I wish we were as screwed up as they are". I havent heard them rail against them since.

Perhaps if we had joined forces with the pilots and taken a similar stance we would all have decent contracts by now!

just curious, how much money do you think an American Airlines mechanic should make?

I hope you don't highlight the red area because you think one year is ok

there is lot of people out of work in the U.S. that have the required skills no reason to farm out or jobs

I cant see any major carrier hiring temporary AMTs for a year it would not be cost effective.

Looks like the AMP drive got Jimmy Little's attention. Unbelievable.

James C. Little calling AMP a company union has to be one the best AMP Organizing tools available. Get this quote and run with it.

Of all things the guy signed off "without further ratification" in 2003 to the largest company concession package known to man and he has the gall to call AMP a company unon. WOW That will get some cards signed if used properly.

This is wild stuff you can"t make it up, how about this one

"Whatever the membership decides (and that is who should decide)"

Are you kidding me, It turns out Jim and I agree sign a card and the members will decide.

Anyone needing AMP cards at their station please go to the website and request them. Thanks

Wow...that quote alone is worth thousands more cards.

I can see it now...Little Jimmy says AMP is a company union, that makes the TWU a "fill in the blank."

Amagine that. If Little is right then we can expect the compAAny's full cooperation when cards are submitted for an election.

Well just as I figured Jim Little and the mighty TWU would have to say.

So AMP is just another AMFA under a different name.
I mentioned earlier on another post that the TWU can not bad mouth AMP with any credibility because AMP is the result of the TWU's failures. So every time Jim Little or any other International officer makes negative comments about AMP they are in turn bad mouthing themselves. In the short time that AMP has been organizing, not one person I spoke too or read anywhere that this is another AMFA. No one mentioned AMFA until now which was made by the TWU. So if this is another AMFA then the APA (AA pilots union) is another ALPA. The APFA (AA Flight Attendants union) is another AFA.

Jim Little mentioned the failure of AMFA at NWA and UAL decertification. Well Jimmy my boy you forgot to add the decertification of the IAM at UAL and NWA. Remember which union decertified them? AMFA!! And he also forgot to mention that the Teamsters is no longer part of the AFL-CIO that he brags about. If the TWU is such a great union as he states why is it that so many current members of the TWU at AA are willing to dump the TWU for a democratic union? The AA flight attendants dumped the TWU back in 1977. Did they return? The last time I checked they are still the APFA. The TWU can make all kinds of negative statements about AMP but there is no evidence to back their claims. Instead they mention AMFA. Why not mention the failures of the IAM at UAL and NWA? They have a history of failures just like the TWU has. Opps, did I hit a nerve there? Jim Little states the failure of the last drive due to not enough cards. Well you can't dig up graves and have dead people sign cards as well as retired and management folks. Did he mention how the eligible list of voters was inflated to kill the drive? No he did not. Sounds to me that the TWU is a bit concerned about the AMP drive at AA. Keep signing cards and mail them in. I would like to see this drive wrapped up in six months. Time will tell......

"AMP is AMFA without the FA," said TWU International president Jim Little. "These are clearly difficult economic times, but a vote for AMP would make things much worse by eliminating all the leverage mechanics currently have as part of American's largest union."

Classic Little response..

"eliminating all the leverage mechanics currently have as part of American's largest union."

Tell us, Jim, about all this leverage.

well yesterday someone finally came around passing out a copy of the tulsa world article so I guess I have finally hread of AMP in chicago now and to be honest there seemed to be about as much interest in AMP as there is in the current T/A and that is not saying much

I'd say its 60% plus for yes because most of them guys are quite don't want to argue with no voters

then how many guys won't even vote that is going to be the most interesting part I hope they break it down by station by station

and at least 7 guys willing to cross on the first day of a strike
