What's new

New AA Union Drive

A lot of talk about " AMP being the same bunch if knuckleheads that brought us AMFA" not my words. It is kind of funny how the same guys pushing for AMP, were the same guys saying AMFA was going to be the answer for us.

Seeing a lot of unsigned cards in the break rooms. The TUL guys are really going to have to sell this one. <_<

ORD

We'll never know if AMFA was the answer for us, although again, they're doing well at WN. I guess it doesn't bother any of the ORD mech's that our freedom to choose was denied due to the corrupt interference by tri-axis of evil. Not everyone in ORD is happy with their representation so I'm sure their cards will be gladly accepted.

AMP shirts should be in by Friday at AFW, get with your contacts.

Not really, the AMP constitution and by-laws sells its self. The membership runs the union, cut and dry.

Is "CIO" the same as former regular "Checking it Out?"
I don't know.

I did see on another thread where somebody said he was a former NWA M&R replacement employee. He has failed to say one way or another if it is true. If it is not, then I will pay attention to his rants, if not, he goes on ignore.

There is no question, first there was AMFA drives, when NWA happened then supporters got involved with TWU, now these same people are unhappy with the outcome of negotiations (along with e veryone else) and have begun another drive with AMP.

I want to know if these shirts are made offshore or are they good quality American made supporting American jobs made in USA? I have one thing to say about it, I signed a card but if these hats and shirts are "imported" you have lost me if it comes to an election. I will not support an organization that supports offshoring other peoples jobs.

I would hope that anyone involved in any union organizing campaign would be smart enough to know that you must have merchandise that is union made in America.

Conehead, are you saying you are happy with the outcome of the negotiations? And for your information, their are many people involved with this drive that had nothing to do with AMFA.
If you do a little reserch, you will see AMP is NOT AMFA.......but you won't, because you voted yes for the TA, and you only have a few years till retirement, and your only thinking of yourself.

Is anyone in Chicago trying to collect cards?

There are two of the former big AMFA guys collecting from what I saw. In front of those guys, the mechs are pro new union, and away from them they are very skeptical of a new union.

I have one question, sense this is a TUL started union, will this revert back to everything is done to keep TUL happy? With the TUL guys saying "If the line guys don't like it transfer to TUL".

Remember the 95 contract, we all got a .25 cent raise and TUL got the shops that were in the line stations. That's the way I remember it anyway.

Don't be a absurd. As I said, not many are happy with the outcome including myself. We will know when the votes are counted. Whether I voted yes or no is none of your business. And if YOU look around, you will see that the same people pushing AMP at least in my area are the same ones that pushed AMFA. I didn't say it was the same organization, so you're being bizarre by saying I did. Additionally you are correct there are some people pushing this drive that were not involved in other drives but not many. And for your information, there are many people on the negotiation committee that are former AMFA supporters.

They have failed in negotiations and want to blame the INT, but the fact is the INT is complicit in this failure and the committee is complicit as well because they were not smart enough to outsmart INT. And so now it’s everybody’s fault but their own. Additionally, people want to jettison the organization, which I really don’t care, (the same people will step up to the plate anyway) but, who will you blame when THEY fail?

The bottom line is people should be accountable for their victories AND their failures.

If they fail with AMP in place they can be voted out. We cannot do this with our International. It amazes me that so many are ok with that.

Why do you think this union was started in Tulsa? Just because we started the drive in Tulsa hardly means it was started in Tulsa. Everyone know that Tulsa is the only place the TWU has any support and from what I can see it appears to be weakening as we speak.

More spin please tell me is your name ed

Considering that more than 90% of dfw signed AMFA cards I would think it would be very hard to find people who did not support AMFA to push AMP, then factor in the type A personalities and you presto you have the same guys pushing change I fail to see the problem and I am certainly not surprised.

Conehead you seem to be a reasonable person I ask you or anyone else why does it matter who it is pushing, the only thing that matters is the idea worthy of consideration, I am one of those guys who pushed AMFA and I will tell you if you started a drive tomorrow that had accountabilty as it base I do not care your postion on AMFA AMP TWU Or any other union I would sign a card and try to put it to a vote.

The problem is the TWU not AMFA OR AMP OR for that matter where the T-shirts are made lets focus on the problem.

I never said it was a problem who is pushing it. I made an observation, is that a problem?

Whatsmore, I DO have a problem if you are peddling chinese t shirts, you can not have it both ways, if your going to talk the talk you better be walking the walk. We as an organization should be concerned about saving good paying American jobs including our own. If we are buying shirts and hats made in sweat shops then how are we doing that?

You missed my point. Which is, Local Presidents have played a roll in this debacle, whether they want to admit it or not. They CAN be voted out. I'm sure many will be. And, it surprises me that you know people that are ok with lifetime INT positions, for the most part, these are people that aspire to get on of those coveted spots. I for one am not and do not.
