What's new

New AA Union Drive

The good news is I was beat down ready to accept defeat but the highspeeds of the world awoke me to my fighting stance anti TWU organizing self. Expect me to get many cards signed in my area. You see it was hard to vote no on the TA when I didnt see any hope but there is hope now and IM fired up ready to get cards signed

I agree, but it was that last kick in the groin that jumpstarted me. The last kick was the TA. I'm 41 with 23 years with AA. I've done it all, FSC, AC cleaner, B checks, C checks, Line, Avionics, and now Eng Build. I work hard and enjoy working on engines. The best times were at DFW where you can taxi aircraft to and from the hanger. I have to say; I really do like my job. I have to, its all I know. The TWU INTERNATIONAL does not know how important our craft is. This is a fact! Its time for a change boys, lets controll our career and have a union that we can be proud of.

HSS just doesn't understand what it's like to work in the hangar when it's 105, nor does he know what it's like to be out on an engine run when it's 15 wind chill -20. He may have more respect for us A&P's if he had to endure these conditions. As a machinist he gets a climate controlled atmosphere. Must be nice!

Doesn't Really matter what HSS thinks. The TWU INTERNATIONAL thinks that the Fleet Service TA was not good enough for them, yet the same International, brings back a TA for Maintenance. Does that make sense?

It only makes sense if your the majority. To the TWU, it doesn't matter if you are skilled or unskilled, everyone should make about the same to keep dues flowing into their empire.

Yah, aren't you tired of that BS?

All this name calling and slinging mud does no good for our trade. If you don't like the idea of having some control of your union and are good with what we have don't sign a card. I am tired of being force fed at the table. Being told this the best we can get brother. I'm ready for a new and better direction. The message is not the problem the Int. Is the problem. Change that and I have no problem. the way is clear if you just step back and open your eyes. Here's to a better way. Cheers all.

Yah, I am tired of it. Thats why i am so involved with AMP. I care about our profession, including the machinists and welders. They are skilled just like A&P's. The machinists and welders at AA are probably the best around. We are all in this together, it's not he said, she said. We are skilled in particular areas and we need to become 1, joined at the hip. That United!

Defiant, so many mechanics are out of touch with what is going on, and what can happen. They have been kicked in the balls so many times that they are numb. We need to let them know, that their is one more chance, ( their best chance) , to change. This is NOT amfa, AMP will be our union. Read and educate the numb balled membership, their good people.

I let them know everyday. This is our chance to better our union to come together and engage. I'm spreading the seed stepping back and watch it grow. The cards keep coming in. Spread the word go to the website read ask questions. Again here's to our future. Cheers all

You'all complaining about the International, but it was the President Council who decided and negotiated the T/A this time. Maybe you should be asking hard questions from your local negotiators.

Please explain which one from AMP has been in negotiations or run a local?

Thats not true, this deal was not negotoiated by the Locals, how can you negotiate if you are told to stay silent, not show expressions and 'Sit like a robot"? The only one allowed to speak to the company during "negotiations" is the International. The rest are witness's, look at Article 47.

The main proponents of this deal held International Titles. Who wrote and printed up the ballott insert? Not the committee, the International did.

The fact is the International has too much control over the AA system. They are too cozy with management. SWA and Local 100 are TWU but they dont have the same problems. SWA gets industry leading contracts while their company makes a profit selling seats for $69, our company builds Taj Mahals all over the world and sell seats for $10,000 and claims a loss, then tells us that we are the problem and our International doesnt do much to dispute that. SWA has Tom McDaniels, Local 100 has John Samuelson, they speak for the entire membership thats covered under their contracts. Both McDaniels and Samuelson were elected by their memberships to do that. Who speaks for us? Don Videtich? Who voted for him? Bobby Gless? Who voted for him? John Conley? Who voted for him?

The International created this mess, if they dont fix it the membership will do it without them.

CIO, care to dispute what Bob said. Your silence will admit shamefully that you cannot deal with the truth.

As always, the view of the "truth" always seems to be a little off target when one of the TWU supporters makes a post.

If they would just look for the truth with an open mind instead having hate, anger, or ill will as their motive, they too would find that the TWU lies, cheats. steals, or bluffs their way through representational challenges and issues. The only way to achieve this is to know, believe, and assume that what you are being told by the TWU leaders will either be lies, half truths, or just shy of all the required details when matched against facts. If you accept their version as the truth without challenge, your crediblity will be challenged on a regular basis. The least you could is when proven wrong, apologize and admit it, but you seem to just dissappear and never respond once the truth is exposed.

They are already on this forum firing random shots of interest to find some solice in their own loyalty to their union. Yet they never seem to make a single point that isn't disputed.

There is nothing wrong with supporting your union. But at some point the fact becomes clear and the question must be asked to yourself and others. Is there ever a good time to come to the conclusion that your union sucks and needs to be replaced?
