It looks like the line mechs will continue to supplement TUL standard of living and 5 day work schedule. Will AMP be different?

Maybe if we were not sujected to 2.5 years of secret negotiations you could get an answer. Being we are ALL in the dark, predictions are difficult.

I hear those AMP guys were at the Composite Shop 2 DOORS DOWN
from the TWU UNION HALL in TUL on friday, passin out those scarey sheets of
paper with writing on them, and some kinda green cards.

They have actuallly notified more AMT's of the drive going on that AMP organizers have. Everytime they out out their crap more people come by looking for cards. Interesting

thanks for update..................not happy with TWU after the gate agents got the same thing we would have gotten. Why are we paying union dues, if the TWU can't even negotiate more then what the company is giving away?

Time to decertify and go non union. You will get a better deal and save your dues and all the headaches. Look at Delta. Their 3rd party work is over 500 million a year. Plus it will be easier to trim the deadwood the good guys are carrying today.

Wouldn't do a thing man...except enhance the "good ole boy" network.
Not that the TWU is doing anything for the mechs at AA...
 
The below information is in regards to the upcoming AMP Informational Meeting. This meeting is for the purpose of informing those in our craft and class about why removing the TWU and replacing them with AMP is the best for our collective future. The TWU claims they are democratic but they are not. The TWU has for too long lead the charge backwards for pay and benefits. The TWU's belief of putting dues income before the membership is harmful to the membership. The TWU's belief of APPOINTING international officers is harmful to the membership. The TWU's national convention does not allow for the full membership to be heard and that is harmful to the membership.

Of course not every person eligible to sign an AMP authorization card will be able to attend these informational meetings but you can still be heard. If you are not able to attend but have a question use the contact form/link on the AMP National web site, WWW.AMPNATIONAL.ORG, and your question will be answered. We will also read your question and answer during the meeting so those attending can be better informed.

The time for action to remove the TWU from further harming our craft and profession is now. The TWU has already resorted to their usual tactics of lies and half truths in attacking AMP. If the TWU is the better choice then why does the TWU simply not defend their constitution? Why do they simply not embrace a democratic vote and let their accomplishments speak for themselves? Is it because B-Scale/OSM/SRP/reduced pay and benefits/unaccountable actions can not stand up to the light of day? Is it because there is no positive way to spin the appointment of international officers as being democratic, where the full membership's voice is not listened to? Or perhaps the TWU's actions of instructing local Union Officials to prevent the membership from educating themselves by preventing their being handed AMP literature will be seen as it is... fear and cowardly actions.

At the end of the day the question will still remain... is the TWU a better union than AMP? Only you can make that decision. For me the answer is no! I do not condone unaccountability, nor do I condone undemocratic practices. Visit the AMP web site and read the AMP Constitution. You have the power for taking control of our craft and profession. AMP is that power. GO AMP!

Be kind of hard to deal with deadwood Managment without a UNION !!
I've said this for a long time. AA's management "quality" is such that some manner of representation over and above what is afforded by employment law is necessary to deal with the "Good ol' boy" network within the salaried ranks, but representaion that works for the membership and not the company, as does the TWU.

Given no representation at all, AA labor would digress to the same level of cronyism in rather short order as there is no shortage of "the friendly sort" in TULE and probably the rest of the system. Time was, in a union shop, one didn't dare give the appearance of a "collaborator" - now it's accepted, unfortunately.

I'm still not certain, however, that AMP is the answer but, much the same as was AMFA once upon a time, it's now the only viable game in town - a position that implies the desperation of the present TWU membership to be rid of those who abused their trust.
