TWU leaders and members, and APFA leaders, and members should reject efforts to return scheduled 2003 raises !
This will, in all likelyhood, be the LAST raise we see, for some time to come.
A brief glance at the calendar on the wall, tells me that in a short 14 months, our present contract will expire.
If the economy were to turn around tomorrow(and there is NO sign of that becoming a reality), we(TWU) still would''nt see any raises come 3/1/04. All the more reason to hang onto what we have, or are scheduled to get.
I''m very much aware that financial problems exist Today.
BEFORE any negotiations, about concessions, take place, AA must FIRST address the area that they have TOTAL control over, OVER CAPACITY !!!!!!
(And this is not just an AA problem, it goes for any US commercial airline that is continuesly(SP?) losing money.)
(address) OVER CAPACITY before CONCESSIONS. PERIOD !!!
NH/BB''s
AA/AFL-CIO
ps.
APFA''s raise is due in a mere 19 days. Most likely(thank God) that should result in APFA telling DC, No way,Jose''!!!
